Okay, I had an idea for a D&D game a few days ago, but since I don't know anybody in my area who games, I don't have anybody to play with. So I figured I'd give it a shot here.

The basic premise is this: the character's are pretty much kids (14-15 or whatever the equivalent is for the characters race). They all attend a sort of military academy where they're trained as defenders of the realm. The idea I have for the first part is that the characters will be sparring with members of other schools, and maybe pulling the occasional practical joke (so it's a bit like college football, but with less rules and more blood).

After that, we'll just have to see.

Before we get started, everybody involved will need to put in their $.02 as to what archetype you want to play (e.g., fighter, wizard, bard, cleric, etc.). Basically the academies the characters live at specializes in teaching one subject (arcane magic, divine magic, "finding things", weaponry, etc.) and there are multiple academies that are all in the same general area.

I'd like to keep this small -3 to 4 people at most.

If anybody’s interested in playing this as an actual D&D game (I know of a tabletop RPG program that’s free for download), just say so. What edition we play can be worked out later.

Well I'm going threw two idea's and just can decide. The half red dragon Le Shey Paladin is very tempting. (I like the idea of being a child at 2712, just for the ironic reasons) Still the Elven Cleric or Rouge sounds good too. Decisions... decisions...

Also does the school have to specialize in one type? Couldn't the military school arrange for unit training? Cleric Chaplains for healing, Ranger scouts, Mage artillery, etc.

Prehaps every one starts off with the most popular class, and then has 1/2 a level in a second class based on their feild. (Scratch that if it goes to pen and paper.) Half class would be aditional skills in there area or prehaps one of the abilities for example a ranger could track or favor an enemy, as well as tie knots.

Sorry I took so long to reply. I've been busy.

Anyway, the program I mentioned is here. You'll need to download and install another program that can be found here to run the first one on.

There are a couple other people interested, so once I have input from all of you, you can decide what your primary class will be. By this I mean that you'll all have one class that you MUST keep at least one level higher than your combined levels in all your other classes.

Rules for character creation:

1: No evil characters.

2: You start at third level (so no LA+3 or more races, but +1 or +2 is okay with me).

3: You'll need to choose a primary class, as I mentioned above.

4: This is a houserule, but I don't enforce the multiclass restrictions on monks and paladins.

Well I carefully weighed the bonuses in my mind and while the half dragon Le Shey would be fun because it's older then most teachers, I just can't say no to the fire power of an elf.

You replied in the same day, I think that is more then enough. I thank you for giveing us the chance to multi class as well.

I'm also assumeing we aren't useing the recamended starting ages. If we do wizard, clerics, and the like won't exactly be children.

Also are we going to do this here or with the program?

Hi, i'm new at this, forum RPG and everything. But anyway, there's this realtime RPG that i play on, and they have other classes besides the reg elf, human, dwarf, etc. A couple of my favs are Avarials, which are like smaller versions of elves with feathery wings, and Wemics, which are a crossbreed of lions and humans. Pretty interesting huh? Well anyway, i have a character in mind if you're willing to accept some species outside the norm.

Name: Surreal

Species: Avarial

Class: Magewoman

Appearance: Surreal stands at 5'4, with long wavy white hair and silver wings. The feathers from her wings drift down between them and down her back, ending in small feathers on her lower back. Her skin is milky white, her eyes a pristine grey. She wears an amulet around her neck, a cobalt blue in color, that glows from time to time. She holds a silver staff with a similar gem imbedded on the on the head.

Age: Avarials age much like elves, though not quite the same. At 30, Surreal is like that of a fifteen year old human.

Other: Although Surreal specializes in magick, she is quite skilled in archery and carries over her shoulder an ancient white-wooded bow passed down from her mother, and hers before her. There are intricate carvings in the bow, and Surreal lovingly refers to it as Ceindrech. (sounds like Kinedreck) Slung on her back between her sinewy wings are her arrows, fletched with her own feathers. The outfit, or lack of, lol, she wears is exactly like the one in the pic, except she has material over her breasts, sort of criss-crossing between her breasts. On her feet she wears silver sandals.

Let me know what you think, and whether there would be room for her in your RPG
An Avarial would look something like the following picture, except the features of the face wouldn't be so humanistic. It would be more elf-like, with almond-shaped eyes, and dainty cheekbones. Not only that, but Avarials, especially the woman, are finer-boned.

if it's not too late, i wouldn't mind joining your rp thing... i'm kinda ignorant to the world of DND, so i dunno the fancy talk stuff, i know there's some difference between mage and wizard or w/e, but i can't remember... anywho, if i do join, i'd most likely try to be a mage or witch (assuming of course that a witch is just a female wizard...)

I have the exact same prob

Like you I enjoy playing DND and have no one to play with. So your thread is very interesting to me.

What edition of DND are you planning on playing? My only experience is with second edition, though I am willing to learn the others.

My next question is-- Will we be playing on this board or through the programs you've mentioned?
