This was a thread that went fairly well a while back, but that fell off after a while. I think the people involved had fun with it.
Premise:
"The year is unknown...but it is the distant future. The Earth has been devastated by a war between hmankind and an alliance of three alien races...one originating beneath the surface of Mars...one from a small planet in the Andromeda Galaxy, and one from unknown origins called the Lucians, from a planet beyond human awareness. The races, all having attacked to keep mankind from spreading its influence into space, all attacking without attempts at peaceful co-existance. These alien races were equally devastated by this war, and now have not the capacity of energy or technology remaining to return to their home planets. They co-exist on our planet, though not peacefully. They each remain at war with humans, but now war with one another. Only twelve areas of the earth's surface exist as liveable without the assistance of bodysuits and oxygen masks, each protected by a lare dome for protection from the outside environment. Four of these cities are controlled by the powerful Lucians, three by the Andromedians, and four by the Martians. Ony one is under human control. The humans, armed with ancient weapons (rifles, pistols, and a few more high-tech weapons--all projective weaponry) fight for day to day survival against all these more advanced technological enemies. Some humans wish to remain at war with these other factions; some wish to make peace; some wish to exist on their own, ignoring the world's current state altogether. But years have passed since the war, and many of those living in Zion, the human city, have never encountered the enemy. They've never seen the Martians, their narrow bodies and long arms, large heads. THey've never fought the Andromedians in their tech-suits of body armor. They've never encountered the Lucians laser weaponry, or dealt with the psychic weaponry they possess."
(A quote from the original)
The concept started out simple, but became more complex...don't worry, if you're interested, I clarify everything here. Let me know if you're interested before I waste too much time posting info...

I think thats one of the best idea's I've ever heard if I may say so and I'd love to join. I'll wait to see if there's other people interested and such before I post my char.

sounds fairly interesting... would be one of the peaceful ones :)

i'll check back in a few days to see if more people express interest and post a char...

If you would not mind QC, I would like to join. If that is ok with you, I will post a character that is a Lucian as well as a human character.

Chewey

Cool...

That was fast...usually threads sit a while before people start jumping on. Well, let's see if the interest lasts.

I'll start with the basics...bear in mind that the quote above is from the first post of the original thread, so things have changed and more detail was added throughout the course of the thread...and, remember if you read through some of the first one, the beginning is a little odd, but it straightens out and becomes more realistic and complex as it moves into the plot.

The Lucians were hardly involved at all, save for Lucia, the Lucian princess, who was actually a good character toward the end. The Andromedians were more like humans, not in thier appearance (not at all) but in that they were more individualists, and their interests were no longer in destroying the human race, but in coexisting with it. The Martians were the primary enemy. Also, not all of the humans were good guys. One in particular, Zed, was attempting to make a treaty with the Martians while maintaining the image of a strong, respectful and fearless leader. He had control of the human city Zion.

If anyone is still interested, let me know...

No problem Chewey, everyone's welcome, so ong as we approve of their character before they jump in...

Thats cool, QC, the last few threads that we were on together, you jumped out of, so I was not sure if it was something personal or not.

Chewey

Oh, hell no, Chewey...in fact, most of those threads, I dropped out of because I couldn't catch up after my brief time off (comp problems).

Oh , ok, I had sent you a couple of Pm's that never came back, so I thought that there may be an issue. By the way, on the Freeport Adventures, you could jump right back in , the thread is actually moving again and we are searching for your player

Chewey

Ohhhh. Ahhhh. Sounds cool.

Andromedians have tech-suits of body armor? Ahhhh. Ohhhh. And their individualists? Ohhh. Ahhh. But, Ummm, what do they look like? And can I be one? They sound like fun.

Oh yeah, this sounds quite nice. I'd love to join in. A couple questions though - have the humans all reverted to "primitive" technology (ie: do they have space shuttles? spy satellites? ballistic missles...)? And how many individuals does any given dome actually support? And does anybody live outside the domes?

Okay...to get to the questions as fast as I can. Chewey, sorry about the PMs...most likely I thought they were outdated ideas, but maybe it was something else. At any rate, it wasn't anything personal, not by any means...;)
GrandMage...yes, you can be an Andromedian. Technically, Darklord should answer this question as he was the first and only player Andromedian character in the first thread, but I'm not certain he has any interest in joining up for this one. The Andros have I believe four arms and four legs, and corresponding body parts. The tech-suits are as much weapons as anything else, and thier weapons, given their stronger bodies, tend to be massive and highly destructive. Mainly, their war machines, but with hearts, not evil and without conscience. If Darkord shows up, he can clarify this...if not, I'll just dig into the thread for some more detail.
Faust, as far as the technology, the key is that human technology has not advanced, but has not backtracked either. However, much of human technology would be unavailable, given the dire state of the human condition in terms of war, and the fact that much of that technology has not been seen or used in generations, and therefore not taught. We wouldn't know much about using nukes is basically what I'm saying, however, certain other weapons would be available, lesser in destructive powers. We do reserve the right to have Zed use whatever necessary, as he is in control of Zion.
I'll post more about the old thread, to make it so you don't have to read it to understand, but it will probably be a lot of info. Just a warning...
As far as the domes go, we haven't set a limitation, and yes, some do live outside of it, in fact, one of the best characters from the first one lived her entire life outside of it until meeting up with the others, however, the assistance of a body suit, given the harsh environment is unlivable, was necessary. Others survive underground.

Stronger bodies? Massive and highly destructive? Four arms and four legs? Kick ass! But, what do you name a thing like that? Bob?

Hmmmmmm,.......

This thread just seems to get more and more interesting as we learn more about it.

Chewey

Darklord's guy was Valerios...another NPG was a leader named Hum'battaan. Basically, the door is open, for pretty much anything but "bob." I'll post some info on the original characters tonight or tomorrow. Even if the players don't return, it'll give you an idea of how the thread ran...

Thats cool QC. I think I will do my big, dumb guy character. I seem to have that one down pat. Must be typecasing myself now.....

Oh, you're not dumb. Although you are big. Perhaps you should stress you limits. Try writing a really short person. Who's 'wiry'. Really see how well you can do. By the way, your subliminal messages fool no one!

ROFL . damn GM, I cant get anything past you. I have a dwarf in one of the threads that I am on, so I am branching out. lol

By the way, all you guys, Wasteland is a wonderful thread and a great idea. I, unfortunately, was not able to keep up with the original. I strongly urge all of you to participate. Perhaps my constantly shaping blob of a character may make a return as the scout from a different race that he always was.

Okay...
A few of the basic characters and where the fall in (I'll start at the beginning):

Thallon--(Q_C) This soldier for hire was once a resistence fighter, with a reputation to boot, though what that reputation entailed is a bit of a mystery. Hired to take photographs for a mysterious group of freedom fighters, he finds himself in the middle of chaos, beginning outside the Martian city Althemidy, and ending in the desert hundreds of miles away.

Denoitnem--(bobo) This mysterious shapeshifting creature first appeared in the sand outside Althemidy. Also in his list of abilities telepathy. Of unknown origins and unknown motivation, he helped Thallon and another strange friend escape a great enemy early in their adventure. Having disappeared soon after, his current status is unknown.

Sage--(Moneytalks) Having lived her entire life in the sands in search of her own "pack" and not knowing so much as a word of English, her primitive mannerisms make her appear odd. She quickly learns to adapt to her new surroundings and new friends, Thallon and Valerios.

Lucia--(Chelsea_Rose + Lady_Siren) The Lucian princess, she's a beauty with lethal abilities. Once a loal to the Lucian army, dissention among her own, not to mention her attraction to the human pilot Terrin, Lucia has apparently defected from the Lucian attackers and was last seen headed for the Earth's surface.

Terrin--(poohlive) Zion loyalist, Terrin commands one of the few ships capable of transporting large amounts of ice, greatly needed to create fresh water for Zion's population. When Zed takes control, he follows his instincts and supports rebel leader Satra as she defects, though his support has little effect once he's captured by the Lucians. His co-pilot, Spike takes command and anxiously awaits his safe return.

Valerios--(Darklord) A great Andromedian warrior, Valerios helps Thallon and Sage escape from the not yet defected Lucia as her psychic attack on the small group takes place. Befriending the two, he becomes one of their greatest assets, though his abilites are greatly lessened when he is injured in battle in the abandoned city of Filda.

Satra--(Moneytalks) Zion loyalist and hardened soldier and commander, Satra is forced to defect when Zed takes control, manipulating the council into believing he is in the right and she is the criminal. She runs, followed by another who seems a Zion loyalist, with the help of Terrin's co-pilot, to meet up with the New Republic, where she discovers an odd happening, a woman, named Sage, who looks strikingly like herself.

Lunden/Andidria--(Q_C) Most people have dirty secrets; Lunden's life is one. A user and a backstabber, Andidria found her name no longer held any value to her and abandoned it for a new identity as Lunden, Zion loyalist and follower of Satra. Her real identity comes into play when she finally meets up with an old acquaintance by the name of Thallon. Worried only about herself, Lunden is more of an enemy than an ally.

ZED---(Moneytalks) The evil turncoat of Zion, ZED is a power-hungry dictator who wants nothing shy of complete power. He knows that Satra is aware of his manipulation of power, and will stop at nothing to capture and destroy her. Unfortunately, he unwittingly captures Sage instead, along with Thallon and Madge.

Madge--(Q_C) A soldier of the New Republic, Madge finds herself in the midst of Thallon's odd little group and takes a liking to them, especially after they help her escape the city of Filda into the underground after losing a close friend. A skilled warrior and loyal friend, Madge has no secrets, nor anything to hide.

Spike--(NPC) Terrin's loyal co-pilot and friend to Satra. That's pretty much it.
Walter--(NPC) The human leader of the New Republic. Walter wants to build a world where the alien races and the humans live in peace. Meaning well, but not the military leader the New Republic needs.

Hum'Battaan--(NPC) The Andromedian leader of the New Republic, Hum'Battaan is similarly minded, but more of a military leader. Honest and well-intentioned.

Yournal--(NPC) Valerios' Andromedian partner, a fine warrior. Little else has been discovered about her.

Coulter--(NPC) An old but not so loyal friend to Thallon, Coulter once knew Andidria, Thallon's former lover, far too well.
Something to work on, sorry about the length, but I still left plenty out...
(Whew! All that in one breath...)

Ok just to tell every one I'm still here I'm ganna post a character soon juts workign out some of the quirks and I was wondering QC are the main leaders still in this thread, would this thread have ZED because he was a leader or not?

Damn QC, looks like you guys must have had a ball the first time with all those characters.

Chewey

It sure was intense!!! I just missed a couple of days and was unable to get back into the story. So, my character took a long walk and disappeared into the desert.

wheter or not Zed will return is something we'll have to figure out later, depending on whether Money (who's shown interest in the sequel) wants him back, or whether someone else wants to play him. I believe she's offered him up for grabs if someone wants him (she posted on the orignal Wasteland thread, so go ahead and check it if you wish, for more clarity).
We'll have to decide upon where the characters are and how far after the last this thread is to decide who all is still around and whatnot, but if you want Zed, then I'm sure it can be arranged.
Hopefully, the first thread wasn't too complicated a plotline for this one to follow.
I'll post more info on it tomorrow if I can. If you want in, go ahead and post a character. My idea thus far is that the thread can be about something I started into toward the end of the original, hoping to gain some fresh interest (which failed). A few scientists had discovered a way to turn the Earth's environment livable again, something they called "Z-factor." I figured, the characters from the first who were coming over, the new characters intoduced, and the scientists could work together to restore the Earth to its old self (sort of), with the Martians and possibly the Lucains wishing to prevent it.
How's that sound?

Just a suggestion (not a necessity at all), you might want to skim the original a bit, not read the whole thing, but peruse a little, to get the idea of how we did things. That's up to you, though.

You mean we have to read all those posts????? Dont you guys have a link to a Cliff notes of this thread? hehehe

Chewey

I don't think there's much more I can say to get you guys more familiar...
I think I'm bringing back all of the characters I had before...Madge, Thallon, Lunden...Maybe the few I had at the end there...Brianna and Fawn. Maybe not.

It's time we started making up our minds about characters, before the idea gets too old and everyone loses interest, if they haven't already.

Who wants to be who? Maybe I should post profiles for the characters I'm using...
