Hey everyone. First things first, I'm new here, as you might have noticed - but I've been browsing a bit and I think I know what I'm doing now. Let me know if this isn't the case.

Now, to business. Here's what I was thinking: the setting is a fantasy world, technologically equivalent (roughly) to medieval Earth. As far as the fantastic side of it goes, feel free to be creative - magic, elves, orcs, the works (though keeping in mind this plot will take place in lands dominated by humans, so anything else would probably be considered as somewhat of an outsider).

Anyway, the story goes like this: 16 years ago, the king of Eredil, Serath Khazan, was overthrown and slain by the scheming noble, Daric Thaold, who usurped the throne through deceit and betrayal. As a last, desperate act before he faced his death, the king sent away in secrecy his only son, the newly-born prince, with his most trusted servant, acknowledging that his own death was inescapable, but hoping that one day his son might reclaim the throne that was rightfully his.

Since that day, none have ever heard of the prince, though it is often whispered that one day he shall return, and bring the land back to right - for the rule of Daric was a harsh one, and soon the land was filled with the very rich, corrupted nobles, and the very poor, the masses.

But now, 16 years since the king's death and the prince's dissapearance, word has finally reached the new king, Daric, of the exiled prince's whereabouts; a great distance from Eredil's capital city, Glorthos, in a remote tavern named ‘The Friendly Bed’ upon the road to the neighbouring kingdom, Prallarch. There the prince has been raised - completely ignorant of his lineage - as a simple stableboy, under the tutelage of a retired soldier, a dear friend of the boy's father, named Baran.

Daric, fearful that the boy might one day come to reclaim the throne and cause trouble for him, sent out a party immediately to murder the exiled prince.

...And that is where the story will start, Daric's men coming to the tavern, their intended victims completely unaware of the impending danger.

I shall play the assassins' target, the exiled prince (Character information below); other than that, anyone is free to fill any logical role - other occupants of the tavern (Remembering it lies half-way between kingdoms, so would be the perfect place to find travelling adventurers); Daric's soldiers coming to kill the boy; Baran, the boy's adopted father... or anything else that you can come up with. As I said before, let your imagination be the limit - other species, sorcerors, you name it - just as long as we don't have any ultra-powerful folks. ;)

Character info:
Adopted name: Garad Ulaff
Real name: Ephos Khazan
Age: 16
Background: See above.
Description: Average height and build, brilliant blue eyes, short brown-blonde hair. Some stubble indicitave of his adolescence.

OK, so thats about all I have to say. I'm looking forward to seeing some people interested in this. Any questions, suggestions, etc. feel free to fire away. Otherwise, just post a character here, and I'll get back to you.

Later.

This might not be the best chara but it just poped into my mind, so I'll mention it first.

Name: Xeil
Ocupation: Dragoon or formly one. Dragoons slay troublesome dragons for some reason or another, Xeil was in it for fame.
Age: 34
eyes: Formally blue but now they are white.
Hair: Long brown
Gear: A small back pack with bed role, spare change, water skin, and a little bit of stale food. Dragon scale armor with helm and a large single edged sword he uses with two hands. Cloth clothing and a walking staff.

Bio: Xeil was a skilled fighter at the age of 14 impressing the man who tought him. He was to become a knight but lacked the mental desire for it, as well as the calm spirit to up hold it. Besides he wanted every one to know his name and knight hood wasn't the best way to do it.

At the age of 23 he met with a roaveing dragoon. He liked the idea and became a dragoon with alot of hard work and many scars. When fighting dragons he has sort of a sixth sense about the dragons location, much the same way most dragoons have.

How every about three weeks ago he fought one dragon that could of killed him. The dragon however spared his life spiting a burt of fire at the helm and severly damageing his eyes. Xeil wheres a cloak and only holds his armor alone when he rembers what he could of been. most of the day he spends drunk, and he is often contimplateing death and why it still hasn't taken him.

I know he is strong but he is also blind and helpless, sounds like an interesting chara to try, if you don't mind.

I might be interested in playing Baran. Got any particulars for the character?

Or, if you'd prefer, I could play a bumbling magician's apprentice, set out upon the lands in the hopes he'll be lost long enough the wizard can rebuild his keep.

You know, whatever.
I'm flexable.....

What the hell. Any room for an old lady orc witch? Maybe as one of the evil king's assassins?

As far as Baran goes, I intentionally left him kind of ambiguous, in case anyone wanted to play him. All that I've said is that he's an innkeeper, and a retired soldier who was friends with the old king (My character's father). I kinda assumed he was human, too, though I didn't state that. If you choose to take him up, grandmage, feel free to do whatever you like with him, as long as you follow those above guidelines. Of course, if you want to take up your other character concept, thats cool too.

And SwampThing, that sounds good. Should be a very interesting character. ;)

Welcome aboard, guys.

Hmmm,......Naw. Leave Baran to you.

Name: Tobias
Occupation: Third Level Wizard's Apprentice....
Age: 19
Sex: Male.

Bio: Tobias is the Apprentice to the Great Wizard Greld, Wizard of the Second Order. Tobias, although showing great potential and power, has a bit of a problem when it comes to control. Although he boasts a vast knowledge of magical spells, there are few he can pull off without them backfiring

His Master has sent him out in the world. To have him prove his worth, give him experience, and hopefully teach him some control. Mostly, though, he hopes his student will remain lost enough so the wizard can rebuild his keep and have a little time to himself.

Appearance: Tobias is a scrawny lad. He wears the plain robes of a Wizard's Apprentice (Third Level), and carries a quarterstaff (Having not moved on to having a magical staff, reserved for Apprentices of the First Level).

Although skilled with the weapon, he tries to use spells first, which often results in disaster. He has balck hair, which forms an unkempt mess on top of his head. Green eyes show a sharp, if unorganized mind.

Always willing to help, Tobias wishes he could be of use foreveryone. Although his station fills him with pride, he's the first to admit he doesn't know how to do something,....but that's the last thing to stop him!

Spells: Among the vast spells he's learned to cast incorrectly, he has learned several useful spells, and how to use them!
First, a minor healing spell. (Useful when spells backfire)
Second, a minor attack spell using flame. (Useful for setting himself on fire)
And finally, a spell that puts out flames. (Helping for negating number 2 so he can use number 1)

Skills: Tobias can read, write, speak an assortment of languages (He knows the languages fluently, but often forgets which is which.), use magic, and make quarterstaffs (Useful for after he destroys his old one).

Will that work?

*laughs* Looks good, GM. :D

I should get the IC thread up and running in a day or two, so keep your eyes open, everyone.

Thanks. I thought, "Hey, why not a little comic relief?"

And there's nothing funnier than a young magician running around trying to remember the spell that puts out the one he used to set himself of fire while trying to start a campfire.

He's really quite hopeless by himself. But he has good intentions.
And that's what makes him a good guy, right?

Almost forgot to mention how much I'm looking forward to this! Seems fun!

*Blows dust off keyboard*

OOC: Alright my schedule is definatly wasn't what it once was but let me give this a shot.

Name: Leoic
Occupation: Mercenary
Age: 28
Sex: Male
Apperance: Dresses in thick leather hide and cape, brownish and green in color so he can blend into a wooded area easily.

Bio: Leoic is a gun for hire, working for the highest bidder. Because of the nature of his work he roams the countryside and doesn't claim residence anywhere in the kingdom. He sleeps mostly outside, carrying a small pup-tent with him at all times and a magic amulet, to keep him safe from wild beasts while he is sleeping.

He uses two weapons: A crossbow, his weapon of choice, and a dagger he uses when he has to get up close.

Since my posting time is limited, which I've discussed with our host, I'm going to start off seperated from the group. Leoic has heard rumors that Daric has a job with a huge payday. After a long journey, he has finally come to the land but is looking for someone to introduce him to Daric.

OK, guys, everything looks good. I'm starting up the IC thread now, so feel free to get posting ASAP.

If there is anyone else wanting to join up, feel free to ask if you see a spot you can jump in.

Hey! May I join in? I'm new, but you have to start somewhere.

Name: Oster

Occupation: Trader/traveling merchant

Age: Past his prime

Appearance: A portly man, six foot-large boned, who has seen time soften and inflat his body. Long hair graying from brown, worn tided back. Eyes clear and blue, large nose protruding from a bearded face. The beard well groomed. Dressed for travel in wool pants belted at the waist, long swordworn on his left side-dagger on the right, high boots, well worn black coat over a white poets shirt.

Bio: Oster is a former soldier in the old King's service. He may or may not be a former associate of Baran. After Daric's ascent he was banished for his loyalty to the old King. He became a wandering trader to survive. On occasion hiring his sword to those in need.
Gear: Travels with a two wheeled ox drawn cart, a horse packed and tided in tow. His trade is in weapons. The cart is well stocked.

I'd like to start at the inn if you accept my character.

Thanks Indy

Name: Saria
Race: Elven
Height: 5'7
Hair: Silver with a hint of red highlights
Eyes: Emerald Green
Appearance: She dresses in a simple emerald green tunic that shows her feminine figure which is why she wears a black cloak to hide her features. She carries two Metal fans in which she is very proficient.
INFO: Saria is a wanted person. She killed an elven high wizard after witnesses him commit a crime to terrible she will never tell of it. She hides among men in her cloak and with her fans knowing she may never return home. Being an elf she isn't bad in magic but hasn't concentrated enough on it to be great. She knows mostly healing and a few other spells but she mostly relies on her fans.

If there are any problems let me know.

Any room for one more?

I think this could be interesting, and it has a nice start to it so far. If you want any info on me feel free to ask or just Lady Siren. By the way Lady, good to see you again.. I promise to be better this time, really...

Name: Jondin Gunn
Race: Human
Height: 6ish
Hair: Black with streaks of gray running throughout it.
Eyes: Green
Age: 40ish, he ain't saying..

Appearance: What was once a proud and nobel looking figure is now worn down and broken. He looks, smells, and walks like a drunk, because he is. He wears the standard tunic, trousers and cloak of a decently well off merchant, sturdy but not flashy. He has many scars criss crossing his body and quite an array of tatoos as well. Ask about them and he'll show 'em to ya.

Background: Jondin was a squead mate of Baran who after the king's death took up adventuring as a new job. After many years and adventures he retired when his son died on a job to retrieve the treasure horde of a dead goblin king in the far moutains to the west. He drank his way across the land living off his wealth of which there is quite a bit and now resides in the same toan as the "Friendly Bed" where he goes daily to drink his misery away. He and Baran are still good friends and views Garad as a somewhat replacement for his own son (Though he doesn't know that Garad is the prince). If asked, he might go forth on adventure again if for no other reason than to protect Garad.

-Anyhow, thats what I thought off, let me know if that'll work.

Room for me?

I'd love to join in if there's room.
I can take this char. below, or fill the shoes of one you've created if it will help things along.

NAME: Fahin (fah-heen)
GENDER: Female
Species: Appears to be human, but is more spirit than flesh
Height : Varied
Eyes: Varied
Haircolor:Varied
Age: unknown

Character description:
Fahin has been guarding the estranged prince throughout his life since his disappearance. She is ageless and quite stunning in appearance when in her purest form, but has the ability to change to other forms (male, female, young, old, etc) to spy and get into places whenever needed. Very long, irridescent colored hair and chrystal-like blue green eyes most of the time.
Has one great weakness to be disclosed when the occasion arises. Is bound to look after the prince by a secret oath to the former king, Serath Khazan.

lemme know if she'll work or if you need another char. shoes filled.

THANKS!

~Creme

Great characters, everyone! :D It's great to see so much interest in my humble little thread. :p

Just one question for you, Creme, regarding your character... would the prince be aware of Fahin's presence at all? I'm guessing that if her objective is solely to protect him, she wouldn't have had to reveal herself to him thus far (He's lived a pretty sheltered life, after all, and wouldn't have faced any life-threatening situations). But if you want me to be aware of her already, that would work too: kind of like a little secret he's never told anyone and never understood himself, maybe even reason for him to think he's a little insane. ;)

But yeah, I'll leave that call up to you.

Again, thanks for joining in, everyone... and everyone who's already posted to the IC thread, you've done great, and keep up the good work.

Peace,
Lateral

Sorry for missing the casting call and jumping on in. First time in this type of RPG so please bear with me.
Age: 20
Race: Human/Fox, either or, Were Critter
Eyes: Silver
Hair: Crimson with a white lock in front.
Ht: about 5'7" human form
Bio: The first female child in generations born to the Dancing Foxes, a rouge clan of herditary based were fox assassins/guards. She's been sent into the world by her father to learn for herself and to find a job, paying or not.
Generaly good natured, very loyal to those she befriends. Once angered though she's not fun to be around.
Skilled with anything having a sharp edge she grew up playing with knives while other girls had dollies. Knows femenine wiles but doesn't like to use them. Does not take compliments of beauty well. Normaly involves an argument ending in bruises and lacerations for the unlucky fellow.
Wears silent leather armor and is not too fond of Gold, that being the only metal that can contain or permanantly harm her breed of were-creatures. A junior alchemist, can brew potions and poisens when needed and makes a mean rabbit stew.
A little quite at first, very cautious, and always ready for a good fight. Lacking brute strength she fights with cunning. "He who lives writes history while he who died, however honorably is still a corpse." Honor- if its conveniant at the time, loyalty comes first.

Hope i can jump in

Name: Balfor Hammerheaver
Race: Dwarven
Age: 320 (40 something in human yrs)
Hair: Blonde
Height: 4'8"
Weight: 211

Description: Typical dwarf. Short and stocky, but hard as stone. Balfor weilds an axe that he keeps strapped to his back and usually wears mithral chain mail. He wears his beard braided, like any dwarf with any amount of pride.

Personality: Gruff and short on manners. Again, your typical dwarf. Balfor would rather work the anvil and hammer than adventure, even if the gold's better. At the end of the day, he's happy knowing he worked as hard as the next dwarf, and celebrates with the best ale he can find.

Bio:Balfor Hammerheaver left the clanhome soon after his second century to make a name for himself among the humans as a Smith. He settled in Eredil next to "The Friendly Bed" and set up shop, but mostly just gets jobs shoeing horses (hardly the type of work for a dwarven smith!) But he stays in business with all the passersby, and everynow and then someone will wander in and commision a fine armor or shield. He frequents the neighboring inn's taproom fairly often, and Baran has been known to keep some dwarven ale stocked. Balfor is highly appreciative of this, and thus has become quite good friends with the innkeep.

Should be fun to see how Vix, a rather dominant fox female, reacts to Lukis.
