OOC : Casting Call "Predators and Prey"

I'm quite new here, but I have an idea for a new storyline. I've RP'd on this base before, but I think it'd run best in a forum.

Base Storyline:

The entire story can take place over a huge span of woods. Different inhabitants live there, whether it be in caves, or -small- villages. Within the woods there are many different species, most are so rare that they are hunted. These beings generally stay in the deepest portion of the woods, not trying to start wars or fights with the hunters. Some roam in small families of their own kind, and some form small groups of "outsiders" who stick together mainly for their own survival.

This story has no "good" or "evil" per say, only each group believing the other is in the wrong. In the end, the general rule of these woods becomes "kill or be killed".

Characters:

1.As said in the storyline, there can be any genre of characters! From humans, to mages; were-beasts to telepathic dragonflies.

2.In this case I only ask that there be no extremists. I do not have a battle code as of yet, (no point systems for fighting. We need a character line-up first) and that the 'the bigger the better' rule not apply. The mice can be stronger than the men in some cases.

3.I'll need hunters, and huntees please!! As said above, the hunters need not be all human! Use your imaginations on the backgrounds, and let's go from here!

I'll start by giving the descrition for my character,

Name: Calitarah
Age: 21
Gender: f
Race: Kaitarian
Height: 6'1
Build: thin
Hair: Medium length, black patterned, dirty blonde base.
Eyes: color changing (yellow at night, green during the day)
Weapon: ki(energy) Staff
Ability : Running speed, feline-like senses.
Bio: Calitarah is descendant of an off-planet race of warriors. Her great grandfather was once a reigning party on her family's home planet, Kaitaro. She grew up in the woods being trained as a child, but has not continued on with her training since the age of 17. She only fights when defending, and only kills for food.

She is very comparable to a feline; with small, pointed canine teeth and black patterned skin and hair. Strangely enough, this feline/human being was raised around wolves. Her friends mainly consisted of shapeshifters and telepaths.

Cali is generally kind in nature, and always looking for companionship. She lives in a deep portion of the woods in a "tree-cabin", and sometimes stay in a nearby cave.

Rarely will she stray into a village area, for she was once hunted as a rare species. If seen again, she may find herself 'fresh meat' for the anxious hunters.

A shapshifter. His natural figure is that of a humanoid, with two feet, and two arms. He has a head, soft pinkish skin (actually pinkish, it looks like he was boiled or something) with huge slits for eyes.
Shape shifting is a complex art, even though all of the species (and there aren't very many left) are capable of doing it. It takes time to skill everything, down to minute detail. The reason it was so easy to hunt the species was to look for oddities in some of the other animals. An odd shade of their fur, or too short of ears, something like that.
He has an official name for the shapeshifting species, but unfortunately no one can pronounce it in common speech (which is what I assume everyone uses, since we're going to have a lot of different species interracting). He's a shapshifter, and he cares little about that.
The shapeshifting ability is very limited. He can only turn to something similiar to his shape, no elephants or mice. He can turn into inanimate objects like rocks and things, but those are very complicated.
I'd say he's about 22 years of age, and is currently next to a river somewhere.

Age: 125 (Equivalent of about 30 human years)
Gender: Male
Race: Silyaven, a relatively bountiful race (In comparison to others). Their survival is mainly put down to their ability to adhere to the saying "kill or be killed" without a second thought. Humanoid in appearance, a little taller than humans, generally with a more lithe build and paler skin.
Height: 6'5
Build: Lithe
Hair: Short, black.
Eyes: Dark brown
Weapon: Twin short swords, longbow
Ability: Similar to humans in most respects, ambidextrous.
Bio: Brought up by his mother, his father having died shortly after Dorne was born. Learnt to kill by a very young age, for many years he provided for himself and his mother with his hunting skills. 3 years ago he returned from a hunting expedition to find his mother murdered, with no trace of her killer. Since then, he has been alone, killing for food and self-defence.

Bio: After he was born he lived with his parents until one day both were hunted down and killed. He watched in horror as his parents were cut open and then scaled. He changed into the form of a human. He rarely changes back unless it is absolutly necesarry. He carrys a Bastard sword in human form and since he is only a juvinile dragon he does not have that great of a fighting ability but enough to get him by.

Also, please make it clear as to what "group" yor char. will belong to, the "hunters" or the "others: ( I say others because they're so diverse) I think the characters so far are all "others", but if anyone had wanted to be a hunter, let me know!!

alright, if anyone knows the series, they may think it weird if i call myself Kenshin.... but whatever, we'll see what happens.


name: Himura Kenshin (also known as Hitokiri Battousai)
Race: Human

eyes: dark blueish purple, but when he goes crazy mad, and becomes the Battousai, their yellow)
hair: Long and red.
body type: short, and small, but slightly muscled.
distinguishing marks: a cross, or an X shaped scar on his left cheek.
clothing: white ruffled pants, they billow out.... sorta.... if you want i'll post a pic of him.
blue, or purple robe top.
Weapon: the Satsujin Ken, a Sakaba katana. (sakaba - sword with the blade reversed)

Bio: when Kenshin was 6, everyone he knew was slaughtered by raiders. just before he himself was killed, a man came and rescued him. killing all the raiders with amazing technique. later, this man decided to be a sensai to Kenshin. Kenshin learned the Hiten Mitruigi Ryu style. after mastering this technique he became an assasin (Hitokiri) and killed government members, finally overthrowing the government and bringing one that would be just, and protect the people into power.

during this time he was known as the Battousai. a man on unstoppable power. a demon walking among men. he decimated entire bands of the governments soldiers singlehanded.

one day, he killed someone very close to him. someone he loved. she tried to protect him, but in a blind rage he slew his opponent, and did not see her throw herself in the way, to stop the man from stabbing Kenshin. he swore that he would never kill again, once he was done raising the new era.

with that, soon the Edo era of Japan fell, and the Meiji era began, and the Battousai dissapeared.... (the seried going on form this point, i'm not sure wether i'll ever have him kill or not, but as he is he is still crazy good with that Katana.

Orientation: i'm not sure. in the beginning, Kenshin protects people by killing those who would hurt them. in the aftermath of his destruction he continues protecting people, but never kills, so you COULD call him a hunter, or not.... depends on the prey.


(oh, and Kenshin gets asswhiped a few times, believe me, it's no god char lol. any probs?)

It is a bit hard to kind of associate people into 'hunters' or 'others'... if you mean by 'hunters' a kind of group of people who work together, then Dorne would definately be an 'other'. But if 'hunters' can be lone wolves, then I guess Dorne could also be considered a 'hunter'... well, either way. I'm not fussed.

It is hard to distinguish.. I guess you'd really just have to choose!

For the most part, the 'hunters' are human, and like thereof. They have a few rogue shapeshifters and dragons, but otherwise they're mostly a tight knit community. The only reason they really have anything against other species is from old fairy tales. Also, there are traditional hunting festivals held every year that promote the hunting of other rare species.

Some who would be considered in the 'hunter' group actually disagree with this too..So just because you're human, doesn't mean you're a hunter, and just because you're a dragon, doesn't mean you're an 'other'.

Also, there are some 'others' who run in groups and make regular attacks on the villages. They do this to avenge the death of a friend/family member. The 'others' were actually brought up with the knowledge that they are fair game, and alot of times forced to fight a war that they really aren't all familiar with.

So it all comes to the fact that neither group is "evil", they both just have big problems giving up on tradition and past prejudices.

In the storyline, we could really work with that fact, and if you want, Dorne could belong to the 'hunters' group, but begin to stray from them as his beliefs change.

Again, it's up to you!!

With Kenshin, I'd say you fit more into the 'hunter' catagory(mainly because we need hunters! ^_^''').

BUT, you don't necesarily have to be hunting.. you could be 'that one' who is straying from the group, but lives amongst the hunters.

Either way just jump in!!

Daelon was called to be a druid when he was trapped in the bush one night. As he lay there thinking that he was going to die he began to hear all the birds and suddenly felt in tune with all the trees and everything around him. He then felt that there was a storm coming hours before it actually hit and got to shelter before it hit. He spent the entire night out there and when he was found the next night his rescuers were shocked to find that he was sharing a cave with a whole lot of animals who were holding him safe.

When Daelon was taken back to his village home he found that he couldn't stand all the people around him. He ran off from the village and straight into the forest where he felt safe and comfortable. He came upon a home out there and found that there was a person who knew what he was going through and taught him. When Daelon was old enough he was told to go out into the forest and find his own home. He has done so in the largest and oldest forest and when the people started to hunt his friends he vowed to help them any way he can.

Bio: Athena was born and raised in Bridgeton, the center of the small village of hunters. She is the daughter of one of the villages 2 man leaders, Tehrj. Her mother was killed when she was very young on a mission that she wasn't told much about. Her father raised her as a hunter, along with her brother Kaylel. She is skilled with a crossbow, and has some mage training, although she rarely uses any of those skills.
Although outwardly shy, Athena is a strong willed, stubborn girl at heart. She stays close to her family, but only recently has been straying off on her own.
