OOC: Casting call for Video Game Land

Ever see those old Captain N cartoons? I was just thinking about how awsome those things were when I was six. All my favorite video game characters running around and having a jolly good time.

So here's the idea; an RP where you take the role of your favorite video game character. Any platform, any genre, anything. Hell, you could even create an entirely fictional character that resides in a video game world provided the character makes sense in the context of the game (i.e. a futuristic bounty hunter feasably could exsist in the Mega Man world but probably not in Link's Hyrule).

Ah, but what's the point, you ask? As of the time of this writing, there is no point. After a few people have signed up and we have an idea as to which of gaming's greats will be participating we can flesh out just why these characters are all running around in about the same place. What can I say, I like a little spontiaety in my Role-Playing.

All that I ask is that you sign up here and say what character you wish to play. Hero or villian or something in between, it's all gravy. Just include a description of the character and a brief history for the unenlightend who may not have heard of him/her. It's also probably in your best interest to have a way to get your character from one world to the next, no matter how contrived. For example, the last time a few buddies and I ran a series kinda like this I had Dr. Wily transport Mega Man to Hyrule to get him out of the way. Samus crashed nearby in her spaceship, then Link was promptly slain and his Destiny powers absorbed by a bum who lived in a henhouse. The three of them then went in search of the Master Sword, a sword fabled to open portals from one world to the next (if you've ever played Link to the Past you know what I mean).

Anyways, that's it. If anyone's interested, just post here. Hopefully this thread will take off.

Cool, it seems like I've piqued the interest of a few peoples. I suppose now is as good a time as any to let y'all know who I shall be portraying.

Name: Mega Man

Aliases: Rock, Rock Man, the Blue Bomber

Games in: Mega Man 1-8, Mega Man I-V, Mega Man and Bass, etc.

History: Mega Man is the creation of Dr. Light. He was originally designed for menial house work, but the sudden threat of evil genius Dr. Wily caused Light to revamp Rock as Mega Man.

Clad in blue from head to toe, this valiant android has vanquished all threats that have come his way, including alien robots from beyond the moon and an alternate future version of himself. He fights with his powerful Mega Buster (a plasma cannon attatched to his arm), the ability to steal his fallen foe's powers, and the almighty powers of JUMP and SLIDE. He's often accompanied by his robotic "pets" Rush the dog, Beat the bird, and Tango the cat.

In relevance to the story, Mega Man has just defeated Wily for the 8th time (just after Mega Man 8 but before Mega Man and Bass) and is currently undergoing a debugging by Dr. Light.

There it is. Just a little synopsis of Mega Man and just when this is taking place as far as he's concerned. I didn't mention that before, but it's probably a good idea to say when your character is from in relevence to his storyline (Sub-Zero, for instance, changes drastically from MK1 to MK2, then again from MK2 to MK3).

Well well well... looks like i will have to join up in here. Now then i have three choices of which i am still working on, and so i am not sure for the character yet. Anyways by tommorow night i (should) have decieded and will post up my stats and such then. So lets hope that there are more to join up in here.

Um...I don't mean to sound like an elitist asshole or anything, but kineticslutdoll...maybe you should slow down a little when you're typing your posts. It's a little difficult to follow your train of thought without punctuation.

*afterthought* Okay, maybe that was a little harsh. You asked for help with characters, not punctuation advice.

Some VERY solid female characters are Samus from Metroid, Sonia Belmont or Sypha Belnades from the CastleVania series, Marle from Chrono Trigger, or Terra from FFIII. PM me if you want some more ideas or if you'd like some info on the gals I've listed here.

DarkTalon...a SD!:HCTP character? Heh...I think I'd pay good money to see Goldberg or Sean O'Haire take on Strider Hiryu or Squall. A pro wrestler running around would make things much more interesting.

On one hand there's Bass... Megaman's ultimate rival. Then there's Odd-eye from Shining Force 2... Also, there is Laharl and his Prinny squad from Disgaea: Hour of Darkness...

Sorry about the delay in posting a character, but Ive been trying to figure out who I wanna play. a few on my list of possibles are...

Tyrant - Resident evil Fame
Dracula - Castlevania with the ability to change into three different forms each more hideous than the first
Raziel - Legacy of Kain/ Soulreaver

Oh and I had a thought....If I am not mistaken during the cartoon all of the characters went to each other's "worlds" and had to do some type of quest...If this is the case then in theory we could all make up a Storyline for each of our "worlds" and that way the thread would always be rejuvinated as one SL ended and another begins. This would also would allow the younger/less experianced posters a chance to make an SL and have the older/ more experianced posters critique them and that way we will have some better Threads being created on ORP...Kinda make this Thread and incubation thread..

I love the idea, Jeremy. Sounds like it would work well for the new guys, plus we experienced folk (heh heh) would get the chance to flex our proverbial story muscle. All we need now is for people to make up their fecking minds and pick a damn character!

Anyway, the idea's good, my only real comment is I don't want this thread to be a direct Captain N ripoff. I just mentioned Captain N 'cause it was a great series, especially for gaming fans.
