OOC: Casting Call for thread based on The Sword Of Truth

Okay, I have an idea for a thread based on the Sword of Truth series of novels, by Terry Goodkind.
There will be no characters from any of the books, nor will there be any mention of any events taking place after the time of Panis Rahl.
The entire storyline will take place shortly before the Boundry's were erected, just before D'Hara began its push into the midlands.
In this storyline, Zedd never existed, and Panis Rahl, his son Darken, and Shota are the only characters this side of the barrier that also exist in the novels. Passage around the barrier can only be achieved by ship, or through special means by a sorceress. On the other side, Jagang is still in the midst of uniting the land of Altur'Rang, and has yet to begin his push west.

A note on characters:
No one has subtractive magic born to them, though it can be aquired through the methods used by the sisters of the light.
No high level chacters please, let's start this out the way it should happen, with low-level characters that learn along the way.
Please include bios delineating some brief notes on history, powers, and motivations, including plausible and realistic explanations for their powers and abilities.
No Seeker of Truth, or First Wizard, or any other unique high profile characters from the novels. This is supposed to be about the developement of normal people, not about instantly winning because you're the Invincible-Unstoppable-So-And-So who Fights-For-Such-And-Such and too bad for everyone else.

In this thread, the events of the books will never take place. Rather, we will follow a different path from the one chosen by Mr. Goodkind.
Instead of the events in the novels, rather than invading the Midlands, Panis Rahl will learn of a power hidden within the land of Altur'Rang, similar in power to the Boxes of Orden, and he will begin an invasion of the Old World to attain it. The first thing he does is to send assassins to kill Jagang. Not having amassed his armies yet, and still being new to his own powers, jagang is soon overcome and killed.
Panis Rahl begins his invasion by seizing control of Renwold, negotiating with the current Mother Confessor to retain control of it in return for assurances that he will grant its citizens mercy and allow them to leave unharmed, and that he will attempt no further advances into the midlands.
Panis agrees easily, he has no interest in the midlands. Instead, he uses Renwold as a staging area for his armies, constructing a massive seaport to aid in ferrying them around the barrier.

This thread will focus on a group of adventurers organized by Shota to find the Talisman before Panis Rahl and prevent him from using its power to enslave the world. All of the lands from the books may be used, and so can any history from the books which predates the war against the midlands started by Panis Rahl.

Remember, this is all about having fun, so if anyone has any thoughts to make this better, or any problems with this, let me know, and we'll see what we can do to address them.

Occupation: Mercenary. Formerly shepherd.

Skills: Woodscraft (camping, hunting, etc.), expert with a bow (comes with being a shepherd), novice with sword, moderate skill with knives (mostly throwing them, stuff he would learn while dreaming of being a warrior, which he later found out was mostly useless).

Age: 20.

Hair: Brown

Eyes: Brown

He left home at 18 to compete in the Midlands Archery Competitions, but arrived too late. Soon had his money stolen. Was forced to hire on as merchants guard to make a living. Found their was always need of a good archer, and the pay was better than he would have believed, so he continued with it. Decided to learn other weapons to increase his value.

Accepted, Paendragon. Just add the land you're from (keep in mind that Westland doesn't yet exist, though the towns and areas in it do), and the land you're currently residing in or traveling through.

I'll fill in the rest this evening. I hadn't given a homeland any thought, but I'm travelling through the Midlands currently. Probably be from somewhere out of the way.

Well, we have one person so far, and if we don't too many others I'll play one of the team (though I'd rather play the NPCs, it makes for a more player-oriented format), I'm hoping for at least another 4 or 5 before this gets started.

You probably don't really need to read the books, considering I'm rewriting the history of the world before the time that the novels describe. Basically, we have two continents, rather like North and South America. Imagine a magical barrier across the narrowest point between the two. the only (practical) way around the barrier is by sea. In the first continent (which is approx. 1/9 the size of the other)the land is devided between the Kingdom of D'Hara, and the Alliance of the Midlands. D'Hara is ruled by a tyrant named Panis Rahl, who is bent on world domination. The Midlands is a loose consortium of kingdoms and countries which have a tentative alliance for common defence between them. On the other continent, (The Old World) most of the land is unexplored, so this thread will have nearly open reign on exploration. At the heart of the Old World is a city and country name Altur Rang, home of the only man capable of uniting the old world to withstand Panis Rahl. Unfortunately, Panis has foreseen this and had him assassinated.
Panis has learned that somewhere within this land there is a hidden treasure, a talisman, which grants its owner the power to rule the entire world. (I havn't decided yet what its specific powers will be)
As this story unfolds, Panis Rahl and his army are in the midst of traversing the course around the Barrier, and Shota, the Witch Woman from Agaden Reach, seeking to stop the madman from enslaving mankind, begins to recruit people from around the land to try to recover the talisman before Panis can attain it. (This group of people will be the RPGers)
Characters can be human only, (if you really want something else, PM me and we'll see what we can arrange. Note: non humans are extremely rare)
If your character has magic, keep in mind the following precepts of magic:
Magic in this world is divided into two categories: Additive, and Subtractive
Subtractive is used only by certain NPC characters at this point, though at some point certain characters may gain the opportunity to acquire it.
Subtractive: is the ability to destroy. Utterly. To erase from existence, down to the last molecule.
Additive:
This is simple, if you think about magic as simply a force, and not as specific spells.
Basically, the wizard is able to shape magical energy to accomplish any task which "adds" to the target. Ex. A wizard can cause a beard to grow, but he cannot make it go away, as this would require subtractive magic.
As a more complex example, a wizard can find ways to adapt his power to accomplish a goal.
Ex. To sharpen a knife, Subtractive could be use to take away metal until what remained was sharp, OR the wizard, lacking the subtractive gift, could simply add to the blade and form it into the shape he desires, such as a sharp point.
Secondly, wizards are divided into categories: Inborn, 1st order, 2nd order, and 3rd order.
Inborn:
The gift of magic will manifest eventually, whether the wizard trains it or not. If the gift is not trained, the conduits in the brain which allow magic to happen will cause the wizard incredible pain, and shortly afterward death.
Orders:
This is someone who will will never show the gift and appears normal without training. With training, they are capable of magic, but never to the same power levels as inborn.
The numerals simply refer to their innate ability to focus, direct, and concentrate their power.
1st = strong in all 3 areas
2nd=strong in two
3rd=strength in only one

*Having strength in none of the above would render them incapable of magic.

basically, just make a low-level profile like you would for any generic fantasy thread, and alter it to fit within these strictures. Let me know if there's anything you need to know

Gear: A large hooded cloak hangs over his shoulders, he has a long sword in a sheath to his right side, and a small dagger in his belt on the left. Underneath the cloak is a fine plate mail that he wielded together himself. He has a medallion around his neck and a small bracelet on his wrist.

Age: 19

Eyes: Emerald

Hair: Dusty Blonde

Skills: Excellent at bending metals into any known weapon. Above average with a sword; Mediocre with a bow; Average with a javelin; Small ability to throw knives and hachets. Can find food no matter where they are.

Bio: He left his parents ranch when he was 16, searching for adventure just like everyone else. He wound up lost in the Midlands after hearing that there would be a large skirmish there. Has been wandering through ever since.

His original home was 20 miles north of the Midlands, just one house by itself.

Looks good Lord Kenshin, adventurer is fine. Actually, there is nothing north of the Midlands, the land there is completely uninhabitable. (Justsay you're from somewhere in the northern reaches of the Rang'Shada Mountains, its about as remote as you can get, nobody around for several weeks journey in any direction)

All right, we've got four people, hopefully we'll get more but we can get by with that number. I'm going to leave this casting call up until tomorrow night, to allow anyone wlse who wants a chance to join, and then I'll start the actual thread for the storyline.

Bio: Onatah has always been a headstrong and independant girl, who is unafraid of hard work, and has conditioned herself to have a high endurance in many conditions, though many would call her a daydreamer. Her parents were taken ill with a burning fever, and Onatah ran the family farm by herself up until the point of her parent's death and for several years afterward. Eventually visiting (nagging) citizens from a nearby village "convinced" her that the farm was too large for one woman to handle alone. She sold the property, and set off looking for employment, knowing that life on the farm would have been lonely and dull.

Hi. Forgot to post my characters homeland. He's from a small village near the river at the base of the Rang'Shada Mountains, south of the capital of Aydindril.

Oh, Can I join? Can I-Can I? I'm actually rereading the entire series so I can have a fresh memory for Pillars of Creation.

Name: Egan Reustwich
Age: 37
Height: 6'5"
Hair: Blond
Eyes: Blue
Land: The Former D'hara, now center of the D'haran Empire.
Occupation: Former Mord Sith trainer.

Bio: As a Mord Sith Trainer, he tortured young girls to the brink of insanity, making them the perfect weapons for Lord Rahl. As a 'true' D'haran, he also felt the link. But, because of Panis's cruelty, and his own hatred for what he was doing, he rebelled against his duty.

As he is no longer loyal to Lord Rahl, he can no longer use the weapon of choice. His left arm is useless, tied behind his back by leather straps, a lasting show of his 'escape' and how one of his 'students' managed to catch up to him. He weilds a short swords and hates anything remotely connected to the House of Rahl.

Wearsplain forest garb, and is very brutal and speaks little.
