::The sun gave way to the rising moon as the day was overtaken by night, a calm but chilly breeze snuck over the waters and up the sandy banks before being diverted by the large wooden structure. Within however, a fire burned brightly within the center of the simple complex.

The men that lived within were all either sporting with their girls or sleeping after being worn out by either the girl at their side or the week long trip that they had just returned from.

Such was the life of the river pirates, and the girls all waited and prayed to the Priest-Kings for their safe return. This time the men were in favor with the Priest-Kings as they returned and with great bounty. The women prepaired a huge feast for their returning masters, and now only a few of them were left to clean up.

The only Master that was awake, or not sporting with one of the girls, was one. No the large man with the long hair and beard, both a mess of red curls, merely sat behind a low table reading a few scrolls that he had laid out before him. His eyes only moving from them when he grasped the flask to refill his wooden mug, or to stroke the hair of the girl nestled beside him, her head leaning against his thigh.

Slowly the girl started to come to, having dozed off at the first sign of the feast's end, her body giving a soft shutter as she lifted her head::

(Sound like something you may be able to handle playing, something to sink your teeth into? If so Post a reply here. If I get a few replies Ill post a Overview of what Gor is as far as a RPG setting, then well pick characters and start playing.)

OOC:

PM and let me know if it takes off. *S
If so I'll play a tarn riding member of the Assassin's Guild, as you know an honorable profession on Gor.

I haven't come across the world of Gor before, and I only know the barest amout about it, but it looks interesting. I've read snippits about a kind of slave called a nadu. Maybe I could play one of those?

I would need some explination about the setting though.

Gor is a "counter Earth". It's location is directly opposite from our Earth and the Sun keeps us from seeing it or being aware of it.
It's ruled, from behind the scenes, by the Priest Kings, praying mantis type intelligent insects who have kept it generally pre industrial age, although there is very advanced "healing" and other high tech like light globes that requrie no electricty. There is no electricty and messengers take care of communications.
It's a male dominated warrior society. There are Free Women and slaves of both genders, although the male slaves are generally either war captives or born into it.
Female slaves are either born into slavery or can be captured Free Women, who btw wear robes of concealment with only eyes visible much like orthodox Moslem women here on Earth orrr are captured Earth women who are take to Gor where they're considered barbarian as they "can't even speak the language". Yes the Priest Kings contol space travel and it's a big secret known only to those who directly serve the Priest Kings and not all of them either.
Free Women are generally "nastier" in attitude toward the female slaves than males are. In the books it's because they envy their free sexuality, after all slaves have to choice but to be "pleasing" right? *chuckling*
Nadu, is a slave kneeling position. Legs widely parted, back erect and shoulders back to push out and display the breasts prominently. Hands rest on the thighs, palms up, as a sign of submission.
All slaves are collared at all times with tags or sign of owership on the collar and all are branded with a fleu de le type brand to permanently mark them as slaves.
Tarns are "gigantic" eagles that can be ridden by trained Tarn riders. Most land travel is on foot or by Thalran back, a riding lizard. Sleen are six legged lizards and vicious. Hunted and also raised and used for tracking... escaped slaves and other things. Urts are the Gor version of rats.
Most live with city/states with AR being the largest and most powerful of them.
There are many guilds and castes and most don't read or write so there's also a scribes guild as there are for most "trades".

I hope that helps a bit Eanna. *S

That gives me a picture. thankyou.
I'm really interested in playing this thread, I'll be any character that is part of the scenario.
xxxx

You're very welcome and Mmmmm do love the kisses.. here's some hugs back for ya () () () and a X or two, too. *G

Come on Folks...

we have three so far.

No one interested in being a member of the guild of their choice from warrior to healer, to scribe, to tarn rider, to priest, paga tavern owner, slaves-male or female, etc.

Jeremy, how was my explaination? Fairly complete for the Reader's Digest Condensed version? *L

OOC:

Jeremy I'm pleased you have the story going and lil golden is a fine writer indeed.

As it's a closed story between the two of you I withdraw my character from the first time that you posted to it, but thank you for letting me try to join in.

If We Get More

Hold on Phenix. If we get a few more people Ill start a Thread for everyone to join into and keep me and Golden's thread seperate.

The description was great and If anyone need a more detailed description please PM me and I will be happy to answer all questions. I played a Gorean SL in AOL chatrooms for two years and Ive read 15 of the 25 (27 if you include two others) of the Norman Novels.

Okay Jeremy let me know.
I've role played it table top with dice but never online. In the table top game "worked" my way to the head of the Port Kar Assassin's Guild. *L
I read all of them as they were published in paper back... am I old or what? *L

No other takers for this thread? Come on people itll be a better thread with more than 3 people.,..

I agree with Jeremy. If we can get some more females, slave and free (for possible capture during the story or not), or Earth girls of exceptional lovliness to be abducted and brought around behind the sun. Mmore guys too as there are all kinds of castes and rolls to sign up for you know.

It would be a LOT more interesting and fun if you do.

Sooo, think of a character and jump on into Gor, the Counter Earth on the other side of the Sun.

OK last time

Last time im posting about this Im also adding my CHaracter's profile that way people will know who Im playing if the thread gets started.

Kanyn Zenos
-Reddish brown hair, the sides pulled back in a ponytail and bound with a leather tie, the back left be, cascades down over his hardened tanned body stopping just below his mid-back. The look of a Rarius in his hazel eyes give a glimps of his history,a red goatee and mustache framing his thin lips. A yellow band circles both sleeves of his dark leather tunic, a white doublet peaking out beneath the dark leather, and ebony leather breeches, tucked into tharlarion boots, cling to his legs. On his belt hangs a pouch, a scroll case, a gem inbeded dagger, and a few pockets, their content hidden from prying eyes.

OOC: The yellow on Kanyn's sleeves means that he is of the builder caste the Masons of Gor.

Good character description Jeremy, but you might want to paranthetically explain what a "Rarius". I don't recall so can't to help you out.

Come One, Come All ! Journey across fabled Gor or be abducted from Urth (Earth) and brought there, especially if you're an unattatched and extremely attractive female and like the idea of being a "barbarian" slave who can't even speak the language.

If Gorean, be or any caste or station in life from Free Woman or Man to slave and let us see what happens as time passes on Gor.

Jeremy, where would you like the story to at least begin in Ar, the biggest city/state on Gor; in Port Kar, home of the sailors and pirates; on the plains with the nomadic Wagon People? Have you decided as yet?

A very brief description of a Rarius is any type of soldier or law enforcement official. theyare the one that carry weapons fight in wars etc..

I was thinking maybe in Thentis, home of verminium - a purple flower used in perfumes- and tarns -think of a giant ridable hawk or eagle.

Thanks Jeremy. *S*
The Tarns, gigantic riding eagles I was familiar with but had completely forgotten about their version of cops *G* as well as where tarns came from.
