Alright, I'm bored, I haven't seen anything on these books (I haven't really looked) and I wanted to see if anyone would in fact, give a shit. But, enough about me, onto the thread:

If you've ever read the books, you known what's going on. If you haven't, you should. But, here's some basic information Here. I plan on changing the series entirely. So, all 12 swords will be out there, and ready for use, should you happen to get one. If you want to know more about the swords, look Here. Yes, it's a wonderful grouping of fun and entertainment.

No, you can't just start off with a sword. If you really want one, you can PM me with your choice, and, if you give me one good reason, a nice little tidbit of where you found it, or just beg, I'll let you have it. No, you can't keep Coinspinner. In fact, I will retain the right to smack it out your hand at anytime. So, if I feel like it, you may have to edit a post because it'll disappear halfway through. (Insert evil laugh here).

Okay, here's a list of the swords, and if they're open. Post a character here, but nothing from the books. You wanna me one of the Emperor's children, I'll flip a coin, heads you is, tails you ain't. If you don't ask, I won't flip.

Farslayer-The GrandMage

Doomgiver-________(Open, I guess)
Townsaver-The GrandMage

The gods gave the Swords of Power to humankind for a game--but the swords can kill gods as well as mortals. And as the gods begin to die the mortals find that life is not what it seemed . . .

Ok, I am in. Only a 35 on a 2D20 bahhh, hell , I rolled a 45 hehehe. But seriously , count me in. I loved the original books, not so keen on the companion books of the lost swords. I would like to be an Emperors Child if possible. Flip away. Once I know then, I will post a character.

Cool, works for me..... I always did have mojo on the dice hehehe.

Name: Roderick Flag
Sex: Male
Age: 20
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 250 lbs.

Background: Roderick, or Roddy as he likes to go by was born in a small village. His mother never knew who his father was, she had a vision in her sleep and nine months later out came Roderick. He suffered ridicule at the hands of the other children for not having a father, but as he grew older, the other kids left him alone. He grew to a large size, and had a larger intellect than he admitted to. Most people thought of him as a big dumb brute. Using his size, Roddy became a dragon hunter, a profession that paid well. He mostly worked alone, possessing a wagon that contained all of him material possetions. He is proficient with axes mostly , but is not bad with a sword. He has heard of the Gods swords mostly from rumors, and is anxious to actually set eyes on one. He has heard that there is a special sword at the local fair that showed up under mysterious circumstances. Beautifully engraved and with a silver scabbard, this sword was something that Roddy was traveling to go see.

Hmm can you guess which sword I am hoping that it is? hehehe

Chewey

No. I don't know which it is. There are so many choices. But don't think that just because it's there you can grab it up! I still want a least a begging.

And where's everybody else? I mean,...this is a good idea, isn't it?

Great, now I'm filled with doubt.

I'm gonna go throw Farslayer around, just for fun. "Farslayer howls across the world: For thy heart, for thy heart, who hast wronged me!"

I think this is a great idea, personally. Please Please let me have Dragonslicer.... *abject begging* is that enough?

Hey be carefull with that thing *ducking the sword*

Chewey

Oh, you want Dragonslicer, huh? Think you can just take one of the Swords of Power with a little begging just because it's a first come, first serve basis! Well, read my lips-'Yeah, okay.'

And as for Farslayer, you best watch yourself. 'Cause you can't run and you can't hide for the Sword of Vengenance! So stand back. I still have a few circles to spin in 'till I let this thing loose.

Now, let's see,....who to throw it at,......

Cool, I always liked Dragonslicer. I sure hope that others want to join this. It could be a good thread. Hmmm.. let me get back to you as to who to send the sword after.

Chewey

Hi Grand Mage,

I might be interested, let me go and check out your links. I'll get back to you. I haven't read any Saberhagen's books but I get the gist of the stories.

And WOW, cool av *is that kissing ass enough?*

Umm Yup, I think that is enough ass kissing . hehehe

*spins around and lets go of the sword*

Ummm,......it might have been. Right now, I really suggest finding someone to avenge you. Yeah,...Farslayer will be the one jutting out of your chest, has a little target on the handle.

Yeah,......Sorry about that. But please, do join. Tell all your friends!

I will post something on the OPR Announcement thread to see if anyone is interested. I did that for the Deathlance thread and a couple joined it.

Chewey

Well, we can always hope,.....

You never know, someone may pop in. It'd be nice to have, you know, at least three characters. Seven would be great.

It'd be nice if we had enough characters so that it could be interesting. Maybe have one determined to collect all of them. Because if all the swords get in the hands of characters, I might throw Soulcutter and the Mindsword out there. Just because it'd be fun.

'New! Swords of Power in every box! Try and collect all 12!'

GM ~

you realize that there is only like under 200 people logged into Lit? Give it sometime its too early/late for some right now ... :D

I agree with Arc, it has been a little slow except in ORP announcments lol.

This has been here for over two days, and I doubt if people even notice it. People probably go: "Who the Hell is Fred Saberhagen?" and move on. I mean, I had to go through about ten libraries in order to read the entire series. Then again, they did have all of them,....well,....maybe some people do know about them.

But still, do you know how many people it would take to make this really good? DO NOT LEAVE BECAUSE I SAID THAT, JOIN TODAY! We'd have to have I'd say, at least 10, so we can get rid of all the swords. I mean, holding two, unsheathed, does some serious damage. Remember the Dark King back when he was on the moon? He tortured himself. Granted, if you only used one at a time it could work.....

Maybe I should post my characters? Yes, characters! One normal one, and one out to collect all 12,.....Yeah,.......Blank.

Hey!

In defense of... well, myself... I'd like to say that I came in and read the post. THEN I said, Who the hell is Frank Saberhagen?!

:)

Ok People, It is going to be difficult to do this thread with only a few of us. Please Please come join us here in the thread.

I haven't used my Garret character in a while. He's your basic Ranger type person, who has fallen from grace.
He still does good, but now chooses more questionable to follow them. And he isn't opposed to stealing, if it will help.
Owns a single horse, a couple of weapons. A scimitar, cutlass (something like a single edged longsword, big but light enough to be one handed)a couple of spears, and an axe. The axe is basically his last resort, and he's only used it once before...
Don't ask.
Height is about 6 feet. Weight around 200. He's got mostly brown clothing, leather and doeskin. Long curly brown hair that imbeds his entire head, a couple of rings...
(asking, can we have any magical items? I won't make them rings of wishing, but just curious)
and a long gold necklace.

Ok, I give up, who is Fred Saberhagen?

Items of magic? Well, there is magic in the world,....so yeah, but nothing very powerful. In all the books, there isn't really all that many magical items in the world, except the 12 Swords of Power, that are either powerful of well known. There are wizards and such, but they don't hang out with others that much. And Fred Saberhagen is, well:Fred Saberhagen is the author of several popular science fiction and fantasy series. His Berserkers® have menaced the universe for over 30 years and the series has recently been optioned to New Line Cinema. Fred's SWORDS and LOST SWORDS stories have caught the imagination of many fantasy readers. Less well known, but equally intriguing are Fred's exploits in the area of historical fantasy where figures such as Hitler and Lincoln, Daedalus and the pharaohs, populate his alternate worlds. On the border of history and fantasy Fred has created a unique picture of an old favorite, Dracula. More recent is the BOOK OF THE GODS series, including THE FACE OF APOLLO, ARIADNE'S WEB, THE ARMS OF HERCULES, GOD OF THE GOLDEN FLEECE, AND GODS OF FIRE AND THUNDER.

Before abandoning himself to imagination, Fred served in the US Air Force, worked as a civilian electronics technician, and wrote and edited articles on science and technology for the Encyclopedia Britannica. He now lives and works with his wife in the Land of Enchantment, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.

And speaking of the swords, you want one?

LOL, you tell him dammit. Very nice Bio work there GrandMage, looks like you have gotten Fred Saberhagen pegged. I have read the first four Books of the Gods series and they were very good.

Chewey

I'd like to join but looks like I'll have to stay away from your typical 6'+ 190lbs+ guy with an assortment of weapons.

What kind of creatures are available for play?
I see you don't really want us to play mages, how about psychics or clerics?

Ummm,......No. If you want to be a wizard, you can, but you have to watch how powerful you are. No great and powerful mages of lore. Just you're basic, spells. No summoning earthquakes or something. if you keep your power kind of low, you can be a wizard all you'd like.

But really, the story is kind of based on the swords. The Gods made them, for their little game, but, they find the swords can kill them, and want to collect them again. It's a struggle to free yourself from them kind of thing. You've all got your own lives, but having a sword will kind of draw you into it, even if you don't want to be.

So please, pick one out. A wizard with one of the swords would be really nice. Maybe Woundhealer? That way you could be the healer, but devote your magic to fighting the foe and such. Or perhaps something else. There are nine left unattached. Try your luck at Sheildbreaker? No one knows its weakness, yet. Or really very much about the swords.

And basically humans is it. The world is Earth in the future. a great change has happened. That which is now, technology and such, was abandoned for magic and so forth. While there aren't any real 'ruins' left on the planet, there are some on the moon. But that's why humans are the main race. I think there may be a few weird little races here and there, but it's been a few years since I read the books.
