This idea is a thread following a group of pirates on a treasure hunt in space. Kind of campy, but I think it could be fun.

Captain Kael Solomon, of the ship Fortuna's Shadow, leads his crew on a hunt for one of the most outrageous fortunes ever lost among the galactic trade lanes. A treasure missing for over a century, with only one mysterious map to guide any possible attempt to recover it. First Captain Solomon most steal the map to the treasure and unlock it's secrets. Then they must follow the route to the treasure's location through a dangerous and unpredictible route.

Of course during the quest, the crew manages to abduct one of the most valuable personages in the galaxy, the Imperial Princess Danae. While quite a feather in the cap of the bucaneers the abduction also puts the Imperial Naval fleet on their heels.

I'll play the part of Captain Solomon, but I think we'll need a few others:
The Princess Danae, obviously female
First mate of the Fortuna, either male or female
Danae's bodyguard (another hostage), male
And of course various members of the Fortuna which can develop as you may like, but probably along the lines of borders, fighter pilots, and even tech's.

This thread is open, so reply here with a bio if you'd like to come aboard.

Hi,
I like the idea. I was wondering if you might consider this; I could play the person who the map gets stolen from. He (not sure yet - human, alien) is not best pleased and he, as well as the Imperial Navy, decide to chase your ship. He's in some big organisation that it's not wise to get on the wrong side of.

Later on - who knows? He might stay enemy or might even team up for a cut of the spoils if things get tricky with the Navy?

Just some thoughts; he will have his own ship and crew but probably NPC's I guess.

Just some ideas - if they don't fit with your ideas it's no problem.

I'm game for either a fighter pilot, or it would be handy to have a doctor on board?

First Mate

I'm still thinking her out, but I'll be along shortly with a brief bio minus height, weight and bra size. ;)

Bow gentlemen, your princess has arrived. :) I be honored if i was allowed to play the role of Princess Danae.

Would love to be either a bumbling tech or maybe a lady-in-waiting for the princess!

First off, thanks to everyone for signing up.

Second, a brief bio on the intrepid Captain Solomon to bring a little focus on the world we'll be playing in.

Name: Kael Solomon
Sex: Male
Age: 37
Description: 6'2" with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. Slightly tousled brown hair falling over blue eyes. A small linear scar travels down his left temple. A small, well-groomed beard on his chin has more than little red in it. Kael generally wears highly polished black boots, and a long black overcoat with scarlett piping and gold buttons.
History: Kael used to be a fighter pilot in the Fenian Federation (FinFed), a small collection of planetary systems out on the galactic rim. After the Imperium invaded the FinFed, Kael spent three years in a POW camp before being released after the cessation of hostilities. The FinFed became a protectorate of the Imperium and the Fenian military was reduced to a police force. Solomon fell off the map for five years before suddenly re-appearing with the Fortuna's Shadow in tow and a crew recently signed to the articles of piracy. The crew of the Shadow took to raiding the Imperium's trade lanes, boosting whatever cargo they could make a profit out off. Solomon's efforts have also included a few notable ransoms demands, but their hallmark has been the inability for any armada or militia to track them down or bring them into decisive combat. The crew of the Shadow has managed to capture the imagination of a few reporters across the space lanes, and more than one gross embellishment of the pirate crew's expolits has been broadcast across the galaxy.

I'll be posting the initial thread shortly, in the meantime if the rest of you would like (not required but likely helpful) to post a bio here to familirize the rest of us with your character. We have:
chris2c4u - previous ownerof the map
Ankara - fighter pilot aboard the Shadow
Maid - first mate
wrytersyren - princess Danae
Donalddeutsch - Malcom
GypsyGirl84 - tech onboard the Shadow

Samantha Fox

Name: Samantha Fox
Sex: Female/Human
Age: 25
Occupation: Fighter Pilot
Description: Short red hair, blue eyes, athletic. Samantha usually wears dark blue shirt and pants, with a short jacket and knee high leather boots. Tight fitting, so it doesn't snag on anything.

History: Samantha used to be in the Fenian military. Her father had been a fighter pilot, so Samantha followed his footsteps. But when she felt that the Fenian military became nothing more than thugs, she had a falling out with her father, and defected. She met up with Captain Soloman when she was making her escape, and has been raiding the Imperium's trade lanes on the Shadow ever since.

Name: Tabitha "Tabby" Lehman
Sex: Female
Age: 18
Description: 5'6", with reddish-brunette hair falling down just past her shoulders, hazel-green eyes, fair skinned, curvaceious but athletic.
Bio: A combination Sandra Dee/Steve Urkel, Tabby is really brilliant at electronics, but clumsy with people. As long as she gets left alone, she can fix anything, but becomes butterfingered in the presence of other people. She still doesn't know how she ended up as a crewmember of a Pirate Ship. Her two most memorable quotes are usually "I don't do THAT!" and "Did I do that?"

Name: Jacob Baker
Sex: Male
Age: 33
Description: With brown close cropped hair and eyes, he's extremely nondescript looking- average height, not too skinny or fat, not too handsome or ugly. With lean muscle rather than bulk. One one bicep he has a tatoo of a mangy dog's head with a knife clenched in its teeth. He generally dresses casual, though dons battle armor when boarding actions are called for.
Bio: Jacob is a former Imperial Marine. He served with distinction, and was assigned to the Imperium's most feared commando unit- The Black Knife Dogs. He's an expert in hand to hand, a crack shot, trained in explosives and other such combat skills. He eventually grew disillusioned with the Imperium, and resigned. He knocked around the galaxy for a few years as a mercenary, before being hired a few months ago to replace the Fortuna's Shadow's previous boarding crew leader after he was killed during a raid.

Lzog

Lzog of Izahi III, was posted to Fortuna's Shadow as part of Captain Solomon's Galactic Cultural Integration Program (ie they met when he was recruiting crew at a bar on a remote planet).

One of the less overtly alien aliens, Lzog is quasi-humanoid in that many of her non-humanoid characteristics are not immediately apparent. One might question where those differences are exactly since her species evolved past the need for body coverings thousands of years earlier and her body most closely resembles a blue-skinned replica of the Terran doll known as Barbie. Even though it is required, Lzog often rebels against Uniform Protocol when off duty.

Her hair is white, and close-cropped. Her eyes are large and as black as the darkness of the planet she originated from. Both exotic and beautiful -- in a strange sort of way, Lzog is bright, witty and intelligent... and all business. A more than equal match for Kael Solomon, she holds him in highest respect despite the fact she held command of her own ship at one time.

Captain Raal, Imperial Navy ... at your disservice.

Soloman's arch nemesis, bitter rival and general thorn in his side.

I'll get ya a full char descript sometime tonite, if you'll have me.

Villains are so cool.

Some one else for the boarding party, kind of detailed, got carried away

Name: Duncan Angelos
Age: approximately 29
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Description: 6' 203 pounds With golden blonde hair and saphirre blue eyes, Duncan has the face of a movie star. Handsome and chiseled he has enough muscular bulk on his frame to intimidate most people when necessary. For all his looks and stature he carries himself in a very calm, almost timid way, giving him the ability to pass through a crowd of people virtually unnoticed. Never able to decide how to wear his hair he lets it grow long and hang freely to his shoulders. Burn scars cover roughly 36% of his body. Scars cover his entire left arm, from his right elbow down, the left side of his chest and back, going all the way down the outside of his left leg to the knee. He wears his dirty work boots everywhere and usually wears a dark colored long sleeve t-shirt and dark jeans with his well worn in black leather jacket. Due to the burn scars on his hands he also wears black leather gloves.
Bio: Nine years ago Duncan woke up from a coma in a hospital ward as a John Doe, suffering from severe memory loss. He had been recovered from the scene of a space battle between the Imperium and the Fenian Federation. The burns he had received made any attempt at identifying him impossible. Upon release from the rehabilitation center a year later he created a new name for himself. For the next eight years he wondered from space station to space station, doing whatever job he could. He became skilled as a mechanic and a bar brawler. The brain injuries from his accident have caused Duncan to be labeled as highly aggressive and unstable. With his skill for getting into trouble he bulked up and taught himself how to fight with his fists and his mind, able to use almost any item as an improvised weapon. Paranoid from his years of violence he always carries some weapon on his person. A chance encounter at a bar led him to the crew of the Shadow. Signing on as a systems mechanic and a member of the boarding party he is still new to the ship and the other members of the crew.

Name: Mason Lane
Age: 45 or so
Gender: Male
Occupation: Engineer
Race: Human

Sarcastic and generally self composed, Mason's career with the Imperial Navy was cut short when his bloodstream was infused with entirely too much Correxian whiskey at the wedding of one of Captain Raal's neices and he peed in the punchbowl. Drummed out of the Navy, he signed on the Fortuna Shadow as its chief engineer. Solomon shrewedly guessed that Lane's intimate knowledge of the Imperial Navy's technology and vessels would prove an asset to him.

His talents are undisputed. Uncanny math skills honed through years of winning bar bets by beating computers at complex mathematical equations make him a formidable Engineer, and navigator as well. Lane's ability to squeeze every parsec of speed and every ounce of firepower and accuracy out of Shadow, her weapons systems, and the rag-tag group of fighters in the hangar bay is undiminished, it seems, by the spotty supply chain afforded most pirate vessels.

Within hours of leaving the space station where Solomon found him, Shadow was rendered capable of more speed than it had ever accomplished, even when new. Almost as quickly, his sardonic and unrelenting attitude caused Captain Solomon develop a keen dislike for his new Chief Engineer, and banned him from the bridge in all but the most dire of emergencies. Were it not for his contributions below decks, Solomon would have shoved him through an airlock many times over. On more than one occasion, only intervention of the first officer, Lzog, has kept Solomon from loading Lane into an escape pod and launching him into the nearest black hole.

Reverse engineering and decomposing alien technologies, integrating them with Shadow's existing systems, make Shadow and her crew an unpredictable and formidable foe.

Lane can be found in the fighter bay, generally, where he castigates fighter pilots mercilessly when they bring "his" fighters back damaged or broken, only to send them back out into the fray better than before. When there are no fighter pilots around, Lane can be found hovering over some poor unfortunate Bos'n Mate or weapons technician, simultaneously berating them for their ineptitude and teaching them more about all things mechanical and technical than they ever thought they could know. The engineering crew often chafes under his leadership, but privately, every man, woman, and alien that works for him hold him in high regard.

On port calls, he heads for the nearest purveyor of intoxicating spirits. He has started more than his fair share of fights with his unblunted sarcasm and insults, only to ebsent himself from the situation before bloodletting begins, his victims generally standing alone in a fit of futile rage. His constant search for the perfect Burbon is just part of the legend that is Mason Lane.

Ul Raal, Captain First Class

Stands 5'9" and thin with somewhat spindly legs. His stature misrepresenting his Neptunian Ma-Ji 7th order Obsedian Belt. A hollow, craggy, pale face with a stern brow and pointed chin, not ugly but certainly not elegant. His silvery-white hair, long and straight is brushed back and down his shoulders. Jet black Imperial Naval Officer's uniform shiny silver epauleted shoulders, 2 orderly chrome columns of buckles adorn the chest, and a chrome belt buckle finishes off the creaseless presentation of authority. Personal badges of merit pinned to either side of his collar. 3 solid silver bars ring his left arm to signify the rank of Captain and the silver star above these signifies Ship's Command.

Captain Raal, a taskmaster, at times to the point of cruelty, believes in strict authority and goes by the book whenever possible. Those impossible moments, of course are when he is at his wily best: tracking down criminals, smugglers and pirates, when unpredictablility that "the book" does not afford is required. Sometimes out on the Imperial Frontier, there just aren't any rules. He maintains the respect of the crew through reputation, prestige and the fact that he is a human born in space. Most men of rank are born planetside. To be born in space is to be of the common folk. He is a champion of the people.

Raal is the only man to ever catch Kael Solomon and Fortuna's Shadow however breifly before the rogue escaped.

I was figurin that the pirates would pull off the caper, then the word gets out and then Raal would enterthe story and start tracking you all down, but if you'd rather me in sooner I can do that. Just bear in mind that this week the soonest I can post is prolly Wed night.

Hi again. I'm yet to put up a bio, I will as soon as I can. But just a thought shouldn't the princess actually be captured before a rescue party is sent out for her?

I will make another post tomorrow, and encourage everyone to take up their roles. If you have any questions on plot or direction, feel free to contact me.

I could write more but I would have to take control of other peoples characters, and that just ain't right.

Still here still interested

Name Princess Danae
Age 20
DescriptionThe epitome of a princess, her duty is to her family and her people before all things. An intelligent and strong-willed woman, somewhat naive in the ways of the real world.
