Or Oi! I Knew It Was Going To Be One Of Those Days!

Having found a new partner in crime (Kitsuke...and no, dammit, I am not corrupting him. Well..maybe a little) and having basically killed off the Portal thread *deep sigh* I am striking out to try kind of the same thing with less people and in a different forum hoping it will fly this time.

The story goes like this. In a long ago medevil dimension, a great evil roamed the land and pretty much wiped out all the heroes whom it could find.

Having disposed of the heroes of that time along with the good wizards but one...a Grandmage who now has the problem of keeping the land from being overrun with evil and the people enslaved...this Evil Who Does Not Have A Name (explained later in the thread when I get it up) is now set to rule the whole of the land.

"Is there no one to save us?," Goes up a cry in the land and the Grandmage, mainly wanting to get these lazyassed people who wont go against the Evil Who Does Not Have A Name (Okay, all who think Isolde has been around Neale too long and watched Cartoon Network one too many times, raise their hands. Thats what I thought) off his aching back, he sets into motion a spell that searches through the dimensions for heroes to fight this evil.

Well, the spell seems to have zoomed into the twenty first century and picked out heroes from our own time. Now the problem comes about with the difference in the medevil interpretation of 'hero' and ours. They are very different. Very. And the spell, having no intellegence of its own cant tell the difference.

So..here are a list of the kind of chars we are looking for.

Actor/Actress
Sports Figure (any sport..men or women)
Doctor
FireFighter
An Activist (pick your own cause or causes)
A Computer Technician

Kitsuke is going to play a cop and I am going to play a teacher. We would like to keep the man/woman ratio even so we need three men and three women.

The knights thread had a lot of Promise, Isolde - I thought we were all waiting for Merlin to show up? Anyhow, this one does too, and I'd love to be in it... just one question, should the heroes be current and real-life? I ask about current as you talk about the 21st century - which has only just started. I ask about real-life, as that's gonna take a small amount more research for those who want to choose inter/nationally acclaimed doctors/techs (unless someone WANTS to be Bill Gates/Steve Jobbs) etc...

No, don't need to be famous, in fact, if you wanna be a ballplayer from a Triple AAA league who just does a lot of community work, you are more than welcome to... Fame is Not a prerequisite.

For myself I will be playing a young cop, just a year out of the academy.

Name:Jeff Steele
Occupation: Law Enforcement
Age: 24
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 190 lbs
Eyes: Blue
Hair: short, brown

Jeff is a good cop, he likes his job and hasn't really seen any of the corruption that goes on in it yet, he has been on the beat only for 14 months now. Hardly a seasoned veteran. Jeff got excellent scores for marksmanship and hostage situations at the academy, and hopes one day to be in the S.W.A.T. unit. He has been training vigorously toward that goal, to the exclusion of almost all else. Which means that in this city so far from home where he grew up, Jeff has no girlfriends, no friends, heck, not even a casual buddy to hang out with. As he has nothing else to do he pours all his energy into work. Reciprocatively, as he pours all his energy into work he has nothing else to do. He recently got a commendatin for making a big drug bust. He would feel great about it but it was just dumb luck on his part, he just spotted it before his partner did. Jeff comes equipped with a sidearm, a badge, and a +4 kevlar vest ;) just kidding, he will have whatever he has when he is snatched from this reality.

humm well I loved the Camelot thread but everyone seemed to not want to interact. That and my being on the road so much.

Maybe its time to email some people and see if they are still interested. Thanks for the good word BadForm.

This sounds interesting...does anyone mind if I play? I'm leaning towards a doctor role, but I haven't decided on any details just yet. (Oh, and both I and my character are male, just in case my nickname confuses people.)

Well Isolde you know im in! How can i resist you! and plus we nevere got to take out little "Dance" from POrtal to the next level! *wink* well im not sure what person form the future i'd liek to be so I guess at the moment fireman(one i wants not on there) and hey! You know the ladies love the fireman! And for anyone i know from Portal, u may see just a little(hah more like ALOT) of similiarities bewteen my chars! ^_^

Soccer star Margarita Schmidt at your service. Malatto, German origin. She has not been hired by one of the major women's soccer leagues yet, due to her somewhat 'enthusiastic' style of play (anyone who knows the English game, combine Chopper Harris, Vinnie Jones and Eric Cantona in a single woman), but has recently been approached by the New York Power. Standing 5'8" tall, and built for as much for strength and endurance as power, she is a defensive midfielder who is also capable of attack. It should be noted that she is not violent in the game due to her violent nature, but rather due to her demanding nature - she commits forcefully to anything she gets involved in. She is actually a friendly person, but when she does something, she does it hard - whatever that something is.

BTW: yes, she is invented - from what was said previously, I presume this is ok.

I surrender to the inevitable

One computer geek, at your service. Details to follow.

Okay..So Far

We have filled these spots...

HippieChick-doctor?

Damn Hippie Chick... and already I wanted you.....

;)
ehehheh
two ladies and we are off and running folks, i'm looking forward to it

Me?

I hope the actress is still open.. If not I can change my character:

Lila Hyun
age: 27
hair: raven, straight
eyes: Asian slant, but pale blue (inherited from her father)

She is one of the few actresses that isn't a bitch. She demands professionalism, but not a bottle of Evian in her palm by the time her trailer door opens. She's had some martial arts training in preparation for her upcoming film, "Land of the Dragon."

She can be sarcastic, but easy going, ready to make jokes at anytime. Having to work with some stuck-up actors in the business, she can get along with someone relatively easily, but she doesn't love all.

Is okay?

Alright! Welcome aboard nicci :)

One more Fine Lady and we all can get down!

...or, um, something like that

Welcome aboard ^_^ Yer character... is she mixed? eg, half-asian, half-sumthing else?

Character Description

OOC:

Name: Dr. Elijah Gottleib
Age: 42 years
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 140 lbs.
Eyes: brown
Hair: short, brown
Elijah and his parents moved to America from Minsk when he was 6 years old to assure he got a good education. He did, and through lots of hard work, he managed to obtain a scholarship to medical school. He is now an ER surgeon in New York City. He tends to work the night shift, but he is frequently called in for unusual emergencies. He was married once, but they divorced after a year of his erratic schedule.

Is this good? I wanted to make him be the sort of person that modern society would call a hero.

If you'll have me...

I would love to play the activest... I would be one of those "Fur is Murder" types. Here are the stats

Name: Jadiza
Age: 30
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Long and blonde

Jadiza never left being one of the flower children, and she believes that every life is just as important as the last. She has chained herself to trees, and literally rips fur coats off of people as she passes them on the streets. She has been arested a number of times for her actions, but that does not phase her in the bit.

Excellent characters everyone, I'm happy you all decided to play.
:)
Let's get this bad boy rolling wot?

Also, is firefighter boy going to post a bio or surprise us?

And thank you hippie chick, for interpreting hero, it is exactly the kind of thing we were going for. Good job all!

Surprise! lol

Name: Michael
Age: 24
Height: 6'3
Weight: 158
Eyes: Light Brown
Hair: Blackish-Brown. Short and spiked.(I point to my avatar for a picture. heh had that made too look like me ^_^ )
Description: Coming form a mixed background Michael, has always been stuck bewteen cultures. his mother being chinese and his Father being caucasian, always made the way of raising him an issue. His father was a firefighter, and Michael wanted to follow in his footsteps. He's always acted more western, but still embraces his Asian heritage, by taking martial arts, learning the language, etc. Because of his job, and feelings of being the "Hero", he tends to try and act just that; The Hero.

Janice Winslow

Profession: High School Teacher

Age: 25

Height: 5' 6"

Description: long honey brown hair, grey eyes, slim and athletic. She is not really a knock out but her features are pretty and she has a photographic smile.

She graduated among the top in her college and had many offers from schools both private and public. However, she picked a school known for it's problem children and low budget because she was a great believer that all children deserved a chance and saw a chance herself to make a difference here where she would not have that opportunity elsewhere.

In the three years she has been at the school, she has managed to turn many kids around. Her classroom is noted for its interactive teaching style and it is fun as well as educational. There have been times that the children she has tried to help have refused that help but, in all, she has seen many successes and hopes to have many more.

She is patient and kind but can hold her own if she thinks she is in the right and has put her job on the line more than once for her ideals. Her kids love and respect her and she shows them the same respect.

Okay..now I am going to post the opening post. Neale ....we need your char summary....

Walter Ignatius Zumwault, "Wiz"

Walter Ignatius Zumwault of Cupertino, CA
6'7", 180lbs
Brown eyes, brown hair, slender build
Grad: MIT (BS:Computer Science) 1990, UC:Berkeley (MS: Comp Sci) 1992, UC:Stanford (PhD: CompSci) 1996

Wiz is very gifted with computers, but still attempts to have some sort of a life. He has been offered absurd amounts of money to work for any of the major companies, but he prefers to work occasionally, for challenging problems and old friends. He is certainly wealthy, but pays little attention to it. One thing Wiz claims to have no time for is a significant relationship with a woman. Actually, he is very shy outside of his area of expertise.

What came before...

"Aaaagh!" Walter Ignatius Zumwault growled at the screen. Without taking his eyes off the fragment of code, he grabbed the can of cola balanced precariously on the mound of printouts and hamburger wrappers littering his desk.

"Found the problem, Wiz?" his cubicle mate, a bulky man named Jerry Andrews, asked.

"Oh, yeah... the cretinous barfbag used sizeof to return the size of the array!"

His friend looked confused, "How else would you get the size, then?"

"Right. But C doesn't have an array data type. When you call an array you're actually passing a pointer to the array. That works fine from the main program, but sometimes this thing uses sizeof from a subroutine. And guess what it gets then?"

Jerry clapped a meaty hand to his forehead. "The size of the pointer! Of course!"

"Right," Wiz said smugly. "No matter how big the array, the damn code returns a value of two."

Jerry stepped over to Wiz, and slapped him on the back. "You're a hero!"

Wiz Zumwalt? You gotta be kidding me. Isn't he the guy from the Wizard's Bane series by Rick Cook?
