This will be a closed RP, like players have to ask to join.

I've played all the MechWarrior games for PC and NES. I've also read a few of the books.

I'm going to start a RP, based probably afther or duing the Clan invasion.

Anyone interested?

Game and/or book knowledge is required.

Okay now how much knowledge do you need? I've played battletech 3rd edition and have one reference book, all on technology. I've played Mechwarrior 3 and four, and mech commander.

Is this enough of a base? Also keep in mind it's been a couple years for most of it. (I've also played the evil miniatures game and lost each time, stupid rules about not firring at something next to one of your men.)

Any how I'm interested.

I am interested......cool to raise a mercenary company.

Lot of cool characters and mechs

Well there is mercs, pirates, clanners, and innsphere which one are we playing?

I'm also curious about that, I don't remember much about Mechwarrior.

I am thinking of having it duing or after the Clan invasion.
Think of MechWarrior 3, when Victor Stiener-Davion was involved in the IS striking one of Clan Jade Falcon's worlds.

Also if you watched the carton; Battletech: Summer Set Strikers, could help. Get those cartoon episodes at BMP

I don't know how to play a Clanner, as the Clan way off life is something I know little of.

Would really love for us to have our own unit......with symbols...personel. characters with background conflicts.....and interests. Oh and nonmech skills....

Also need a bunch of npcs...fro repairing equipment, manning tanks, the base or ships and other support functions.

Interesting.

Like we have a unit each, but all our units work together agaisnt the Clan(s)

We could do the FedCom Civil war, but I think having the Clans would be more interesting.

Some one can be a Clanner unit if they wish to BTW.

Not alot of knowledge is needed, just enough to know whats going on, and what things are.

Example:
What's - The Clans, Inner Sphere, Chaos March, FedCom, Star Leage, ER LL, ER PPC, ER SL, ER ML, LRMs, SRMs, MRMs, Guas Rifle, Clan Guass Rifle, Auto-Cannons, Gyros, Arculators, Jumjets, Heat Sinks, Targeting Computers, JumpShips, DropShips, BattleMechs, WarHawk, Maruder, Dire Wolf, Timber Wolf, Jenna, Firemoth, Awersome, Summoner, Warhammer, HellBringer, Mad Dog, Hunchback, Hunchback IIC, Aerofighters, and so on.

Sorry for spelling.

Also some BattleMechs have 2 names; Clan and Inner Sphere names.

Example II:
WarHawk (Clan) - Masakari (Inner Sphere)
Timber Wolf (Clan) - Mad Cat (Inner Sphere)
Hellbringer (Clan) - Loki (Inner Sphere)

Orlanth:
I have RP'd in the clan system before if you need some pointers (or if you need someone to actually play clanners).

Let me know.

Are we going to be using more than just the listed mechs? There are several (actually closer to 150 or so) that are available to choose from that could make things more interesting as they add diversity to the game.

We can use alot more 'Mechs then what I listed. Would be better if we had pics of 'Mechs and maybe lay out of specs, but that's wish full thinking.

Things can be explained to all, along as you have a basic idea.

Inner Sphere - IS for short, is most of the galaxy. Divided into sections which is governed by IS Houses.
FedCom - Federated Commonwelth, is one of the larger sections of the IS, which is mostly lruled by House Stiener
Chaos March - This is the small area in the middle of the IS, this area is almost always fought over.
Star Leage - Used to be the IS, under 1 ruler, I think.
The Clans - Are followers of Kerensky,of the Star League. I don't know much about this. Clan Wolf, Clan Jade Falcon, Clan Nova Cat, Clan Ghost Bear are a few of the
Clans.
ER LL - Extented Range Large Laser
ER SL - Extented Range Small Laser
ER ML - Extented Range Medium Laser
LRMs - Long Range Misllies
Guas Rifle - An small object fired at very high speed.
Clan Guass Rifle - Clan technology has improved on this weapon. Weighs less, and reloads faster.
Auto-Cannons - Think of a tank weapon, but with shorter range.
JumpShips - This big ships use a kinda fold space to jump around the galaxy. They use alot of power and need to cool off and recharge after a jump. These are like Fierras, moving Dropships and such through space.
DropShips - Are what movies 'Mechs around over large areas, and also has a HQ insade.
BattleMechs - or 'Mech are large robotech machines piltod by a MechWarrior. These can range from 25 tons up to 100, even 150 tons, and height is 14 to 40 foot depending on the 'Mech.
These are a few 'Mechs: WarHawk, Maruder, Dire Wolf, Timber Wolf, Jenna, Firemoth, Awersome, Summoner, Warhammer, HellBringer, Mad Dog, Hunchback, Hunchback IIC,

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

well I must say I don't remember mech names, but I would probably use a small/tiny mech. With just lasers, thanx for basic info, I'll think about it some more, because I'll be honest, I really don't remember much at all.

A Light Beam 'Mech wold be a Wolfhound, Couger (but also has LRMs)

Both are around 25 to 35 tons, small, and fast. Wolfhound is all Beam weapons, and is a humanoid form.

Couger is small, fast, jumpjets and is mostly beam wepons but has a bit of missles. Don't know the techincal term, but it has chicken legs.

There is other 'Mechs which fit your use, but these 2 are what came to mind.

I'm sure you'll be right, you will remember stuff as we go along. I will explain some more stuff if need be, and maybe others can help.

that's cool, I think I used to use a cougar. I really don't remember, but potentially couldn't you outfit it with other things? I mean besides missiles?

I know the books and the boardgames use diffrent verients presets for 'Mechs. Like diffrent weapon configs for one 'Mech.

MechWarrior on the PC lets youn change the weapons.

We have to decided if we wanna put any weapons on our 'Mechs, or use the verients system.

I played the comp game so yeah I dont' know about other people.

I've only played MechAssault, which was slightly more arcadey, with no actual mech customization (aside from choosing from list of mechs), but I would like to join this thread. I'd probably play with a Timber Wolf or an Atlas.

Interesting stuff.......so we will be in combat not in any of the games. Should have infantry, tanks, and helicopters.

I was thinking we all share one unit. Perhaps each of a squad or lance. Need a starship and of coarse some assignments.

Yea, we will have more then Just 'Mechs.

Having one MechWarrior to play is alot easier and such.

I wont say who I'll be to we work out the story.

Yeah for vanishing cats. Okay I'm cought up.

Okay I've played maybe six games of battle tech and made maybe 50 mechs.

So I think we should be able to custum configure or make new mechs all togeather. Since this is story based it's not that hard.

A big thing to note though is battlemechs vs. omni mechs. Omnimechs are a newer design the clans made they generly have the trade mark backward legs like the cougar and a lack of grasping hands, but the main advantage is weapons are compartmentalized allowing you to change a mechs geasr and thus role in about an hour isntead of half a day like on the atlas.

Since they have so many mechs I think it's best to list what gear your mech has on it and if you know a brief discription of it's looks. I know what a few mechs look like but I couldn't tell you what a naga looks like.
