Yes, granted, it is online. Often you have no other method of communication with that particular person, and so after a certain amount of time, you begin to trust them a little bit.

But then you hear them slip... one of their stories doesn't check out with the new version.

But you let that slide.

And everything seems wonderful... so you keep talking.

After a few months or so, you begin to talk less and less, and you find it okay, but he doesn't, so he talks about moving.. from California to BC to be near you. That's a bit creepy, so you put him on ignore.

*rolling eyes, smirk on my face* And then you find out that while you two have been talking, he's spent time stringing other women along.. poor creatures who had (unlike you) invested some emotion into the situation. Those poor women. And then you find out, he's been harrassing one of your friends. Oh lord, this is getting stupid.

And THEN! Then you find out that he's been fired from his job (which he said he owned the business), and that he's been stealing and such.

Scummy, eh?

I've long since had him on ignore... and this surprises me not in the least... I can only shake my head, smirking.

Short one tho-

I talked to a dude for months and months, we discussed many things not only in text but on the phone and on voice. Lil things he'd say just wouldn't add up.. I knew he was "fibbing" on certain areas of his life. Finally I had enough and cut all ties (romantically) with him.

I still see him around now and again and I've considered ratting him out to the new girls that seem to follow him around.. but I know that most don't want to hear. I know that most will make the assumption that I"m just jealous or something equally stupid.. nor do I have concrete evidence. So I guess they'll have to figure things out on their own.. it isn't hard if you pay attention.

I think most of the women on here who allow themselves to form attachments to others experience this on occassion.

There's at least one guy I can think of off the top of my head who's a total scumbag. If he were honest with the women and let them know that he just thinks of them as whores to masturbate with, it wouldn't be too bad. But apparently honesty is hard for some people. *shrug*

Of course, there're the ones who make up fake names and collect people. I experienced that recently myself. I actually think (or thought, I guess) the person who did it was an upright and decent person. Honest and not a scumbag. Not quite sure why they felt they had to make up a fake name, or why when presented with several opportunities to come clear they chose not to. I can tell you that it pisses me off and that I can't say anything terribly nice about someone who plays games like that. Oh, and for those looking for dirt, there was no sexual componant to that relationship. Sorry to disappoint.
