.....'The Hire' - BMW.

Great concept, great presentation, great acting, great budget, great directors, great ideas.

It might be a little older but I re-watch the spots regularly and everytime am amazed by the courage BMW had producing them.

Anyone agree?

Snoop, don't know what you're talking about. Is it a TV commercial?

Looking at the replies it seems not a lot of people do.

Well, okay. BMW a couple of years ago decided to do a huge public-relation-campaign.

They decided on producing small commercial-movies that could be downloaded on their site and featured some of their car models.

The idea was to produce short-movies (I dunno, maybe five minutes each) about a guy (Clive Owen) who is a professional driver and is hired for the most various situations that involve driving people.

The first episodes were: (I guess they were all written by Andrew Kevin Walker)

Ambush (directed by John Frankenheimer) - The Driver has to transport a businessman (Tomas milian) with valuable carriage when they are ambushed by gansters

Chosen (Ang Lee) - The Driver has to transport a asian child to a safehouse who seems to be some kind of chosen one. Of course that draws some enemies to them.

Powder Keg (Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu) - The Driver has to get a war photographer (Stellan Skarsgaard, spelling?) to a hospital because he was shot and has some sensitive photos. He later meets his mother (Lois Smith)

The Follow (Won-Kar Wai) - The Driver has to follow the wife (Adriana Lima) of a gangster (Mickey Rourke) because he is suspicious of her. The Driver discovers her true nature and agenda.

Star (Guy Ritchie) - The Driver has to transport a huge celebrity singer (Madonna) to an official presentation. He discovers that she is a real bitch and then decides to get even with her by shaking off her crew and stalkers.

After a huge succes they even made some more just for the BMW Z3 series (I guess, I don't know shit about cars)

Hostage (John Woo) - The Driver has to deliver the ransom to a guy who has taken his wife captive. After that he has to struggle to find her location because time is running out.

Ticker (Joe Carnahan) - The Driver has to transport a mysterious guy (Don Cheadle) with unknown agenda who has to deliver a suitcase with timer. Not knowing whethr it's chemical, biological or what the target is, they are attacked by military and the clock is ticking.
(also starring J.Murray Abraham, Denis Haysbert, Ray Liotta - all uncredited I think)

Beat The Devil (Tony Scott) - The Driver has to transport James Brown (James Brown) to the devil himself because Brown had in his youth traded his sould for his singing and dancing talent. Now that agehas caught up with him he wants to re-negotiate. The Devil (Gary oldman) and his driver (Dany Trejo) decide to make a wager.

These movies are truly great in my opinion. Advertisement can't get better.

I know what you're talking about, Snoop. There was a big buzz when those came out - tech companies and media companies were all excited about how BMW's films might change the advertising and marketing landscape.

I saw the Ambush - it was very well done and more compelling than a lot of films that make it to the theater.

Didn't end up buying a BMW, though. :D
