I re-typed something that Ron Paul wrote about how benevolence can lead to this kind of issue... can't find it now. But, I don't see Leftists or Progressives as evil people so much as I see them as narcissists who desperately need to be seen as virtuous. This isn't me insulting them, either.

For some reason, they have an intense need to "be on the right side" of something, and they are urgently looking for a cause that they can support publicly to receive accolades for. Since no one is handing out awards to anyone arguing: "treat black people the same way you treat white people", they have to go further and further, until the only way they can get any recognition for being virtuously edgy is to argue that paleontology is sexist and math is homophobic. Another pathway to virtue is to attack (with violence or with words) anyone who is not sufficiently woke.

Actually two men were killed, and one was crippled.

There is a term called Disparity of Force that I think will come up in this case. Kyle was one person in a mob of rioters who were chasing him, kicking him, pushing him, grabbing for his gun. Those people were acting as a mob, and even if they were unarmed posed a significant threat to Kyle. He was right to be worried about the people trying to take his rifle - who knows what they would have done, and if they might have killed him. Kyle was unarmed and surrounded, he was being attacked and he could not retreat any farther - they would not let him retreat.

If this is not justified as self defense, then I have no idea what would ever be. What kind of ridiculous scenario would have to happen to justify using a gun in self defense?

If instead Kyle was a woman being chased down by a group of guys and they pushed her to the ground and kicked her, tried to grab her gun, are you saying she has no right to defend herself? What about someone who was black being chased by white supremacists? Just switch the races around and tell me if in all circumstances you feel the verdict should be the same.

One of his attackers was armed with a pea shooter.

Also the point is self defense is to prevent the beat down/harm..... you don't wait until they pop your skull open or put a couple rounds in you to defend yourself. That's how you completely fail at self defense.
