One Night at a Restaurant
A man and woman were having dinner in a fine restaurant one evening. Their waiter, watching from across the room, noticed that while the elegantly-dressed woman was absorbed in reading her menu, her companion began to slowly slide down in his chair.
The woman continued to peruse the menu, calm and oblivious as the man slowly slid all the way down his chair and slipped out of sight under the linen tablecloth.
The waiter approached the table, and the woman glanced up at him. "Pardon me, ma'am," he said, "But I think your husband just slid under the table."
"No, he didn't," replied the woman with a polite smile. "My husband just walked in the door!"
