I was reading a story today, as you do, and getting to the end of it clicked to see what else the author had written, as you do, and noticed that the user number of the author was nine hundred and ninety nine thousand and odds. Good Lord, I thought, does Literotica really have a million registered users? Indeed it does; meet the millionth.

I have to admit I find profiles like this a bit bizarre. He hasn't posted any stories so he isn't an author; and he hasn't posted any details about himself so he isn't on the pull. But you don't need to be a member to read stories, or to comment on stories, or to message authors - and as far as I know you don't need to be a member to message members. So I don't understand why there are thousands of vacuous profiles - but there are.

However, that's kind of beside the point. The point is that more than a million people use this site often enough that they feel it's worth registering their membership. So that's a minimum number for our audience here. The actual audience must be significantly larger, because I know for myself that I had been a reader on this site for several years before I decided to post stories of my own, and I didn't register my membership until then.

I have to admit I find it impressive.

If you've taken a look at the GB lately, you'd understand. With all the alts the true membership is something like 1612.

Searching is restrictive if you aren't a member. That is why I originally signed up for an account. I didn't post a story for another year, and didn't post in the forums for another two after that.

Or something like that...

I was wrong. I did sign up to post stories. Getting full access to stories was just a nice bonus :D

There is one story that is listed as having over 6,000,000 views. That doesn't mean that six million people have read it, because there are probably some who have read it more than once. Even so, that's a lot of views, and there must be some who have not viewed the story.

ETA: My most viewed story is just under 400,000 and all my stories combined are probably about 15,000,000.

Actually LIT has about 100 members with 10,000 alts so they can inflate their story's score. Its true.

There is some truth to this but, to do it, they have to use 10,000 different computers, each with a different ISP.

Welcome to someone who must not be named's world.

His alter female ego claims that there are only 4 real people in the AH and three of them are DK.

I'd love to see Manu run an ISP check on the Favorites List and the top 250 Favorite stories list. Talk about shaking things up, even if he allowed 2 people to share the same ISP. :D:eek::cool:

This is quite possibly a non sequitur. In the first paragraph, you establish the probability of multiple alts. This reasonably established, then there aren't really the million separate people registered this site (although it's more like "ever used" and current using).

I'd certainly agree that there are probably a gajillion readers who haven't registered.

My most viewed story, in the Incest category of course, has over 250,000 views.

The majority of my stories struggle to reach 10,000 views.

But where else would 10,000 people even look at anything I wrote?

I'm delighted with the number of people viewing/reading my stories even if less than 0.1% bother to vote and even fewer give PCs and feedback.

My total number of responses in 10 years from Yahoo adult groups, and at one stage I had stories posted in about 80 groups, is less than the number of PCs on each of a couple of my stories here.

Literotica is a great place to put your writing because it gets read.

H'mmmm...

My most-read story only has 44,000 views. On the other hand the feedback I get is great!

I agree, having an audience is key. And here, we have one.

Being new here, I'm absolutely astounded at the numbers. I still have a hard time believing that people from around the world are here posting, writing, reading, viewing, and lurking. For God sakes, I still close my blinds every night.

And, if it wasn't for the BOSTONFICTIONWRITER, I wouldn't be here, either.
I hope that's a good thing. Personally, I'm glad I'm here with a great bunch of writers.

Way to go, Literotica! Well done everyone!

That seems strange. I have 19 stories with over 100,000 views each. Those aren't all reads, but probably most of them are. That includes Incest, Anal, First Time, NC/R and one Group sex story. I wish I got more feedback. I like to think that people start wanking or frigging when they are part of the way through, and get themselves off and never finish, therefore not voting or leaving a comment.

Yes, but you write 100% smut or stroke with no redeeming social qualities. I write artsy psycho pieces often with no explicit sex. Most of our audience prefers your sort of stuff to my sort of stuff, but I don't mind; I'm pleased to get readers.
