well ... here it is mes amis ....
the kick off to the Canada Day long weekend ... this Monday, July 1st Canada celebrates the 135th birthday of our country, our true North strong and free <dammit i am getting so sappy, eh? lol>
- and also the beginning of my two week vacation .....
oh i deserve this life ... the life of Riley i call it ... decadent nothingness ... pas de responsibilities ... oh i could get used to this ...
but i digress ....
i would like to reflect with fellow lit <and you can take that any way you choose ... ha ha ha> Canadians on all things Canadian ....
and to reflect with fellow lit <see above lmao> non-Canadian friends on all things Canadian ...
and even if you don't want to talk about anything Canadian ... well that's ok too, mes amis!
we must seem like a very young country to our european friends and even to our american friends ...
and just how old is australia anyways, mates?
because i was thinking that this Canada is extra special to all of us - because it is the first since September 11th changed our world forever ...
sorry a wee bit sappy again, eh?
hey .... have you ever heard this song about Canada when we turned 100 in 1967 - Canada's Centennial ...
it is sooooooooo cute ... you have to hear it sung too because the lyrics alone do not do it justice ...
well i just did a lengthy search on the net to find the damn lyrics and i can't find dem dare ... i discovered it was written by Bobby Gimby ...
it goes something like ...
C-A-N-A-D-A
we love thee
now we are 20 million
C-A-N-A-D-A
one little two little three Canadians ...
something something something ..
Vive le Canada
three cheers
hip hip hoorah
