This is not a political thread about declining birthrates. I wondered what others think about the benefits or disadvantages. Over 20% of American children are now an only child.

Anyone on here an only child growing up? Have an only child now? Opinions.

Any historical context? Big difference from X years ago?

Cause it sounds more or less normal to me. But I don't have the numbers so I dunno.

I'm an only child.

I would have liked a sibling. My parents had me really late though, so it wasn't an option.

It's super tough now, because I am the sole one responsible for helping my ailing mother.
