One Hundred Thousand Views

One of my stories, "We Take Turns with Amy", has just passed the 100,000 view mark. I realize that this is not really a big deal, and there are some stories on the site with millions of views, but this is a high for me.

The story is officially a N/C but it is actually a fun group-sex tale. Three men and a woman role-play a gang rape but, like almost all my stories, everybody has fun. Although there is the pretense of the woman being a victim, she is actually in charge.

It is not really a very popular story, having only 61 votes and a ranking of 4.25. The only PC is one I wrote hoping to attract more. I suppose that the fans of N/C read it hoping to find a story of a rape, and are disappointed and rate it badly.

I have only written one story of a rape, and that was for the recent Halloween contest. It involved cruelty and brutality and was no fun to write. I don't expect to ever do another one. I have written a couple of stories where the woman was coerced, but there was never any violence and, when the woman realized how much fun it could be, she became a willing participant.

100,000 views for a 3 Lit page story is great. The category may have helped.

I checked through mine to see if I could match it - only one story 'Virgin's Sister' (Incest of course!) has reached 100,000 views. Few others, except the sequel, reached 50,000. The majority of my stories have less than 10,000 views and if they reach 5 figures the first digit is usually a 1.

A rough estimate of average views per Og story would be around 5,000. However the response on Literotica is so much greater than anywhere else that I have put stories.

I think that after the category, the title is the most important factor in attracting a high view count. How many of the views of my stories are actual 'reads' instead of almost instantaneous backclicks?

Could the number of views be increased by changing a title?

My best should reach 30,000 views in about two weeks at the rate it's going.

It's in Mature. I didn't think that category got that many reads.

In this case, the title and category did help. At the time, the category was Non-consent. Since then, the word "reluctance" has been added but then, people would look at the category and name and think it was the story of a gang rape. It was, but only playing at it, with everybody having fun.

I don't know if we could change a title. Many of mine have very innocuous names, such as "I Call on Virginia" and they might attract more action if they had more erotic names.

The second most reads is an incest story, "My Cute Nieces, Chapter 1" with 84,000 views. This is far more than the three subsequent chapters, but all four are rated over 4.60. Anal stories tend to attract a lot of viewers also and I believe they are more demanding than most.

Your comment about multi-part stories reflects my own experience. Under my AdK name I only have the two series, 'Aunt Ellen' (5 parts) and 'Kate' (3 parts). The first part of Aunt Ellen outviews subsequent parts by a ratio of 5:2. Kate is not so extreme, a mere 2:1.

I did note from your member page that you have 146 stories and 63 poems. Since April 2003. I've been around since mid-2000 and only have 43 stories and 6 poems. Maybe you're spreading yourself too thin? Give your readers a chance to get their breath back before hitting them with another!

One paradox is that my most-viewed story also has my lowest average score. Perhaps the fact that it's in Incest/Taboo explains the views . . .

Go to the submissions page and select 'view'. You will see your views, votes and PCs for any posted story or poem.

Thanks for your congratulations, everybody but, in all honesty, it is not really that great an accomplishment. The 500th most viewed story has over 225,000 views so my best is way, way down the list. I don't know how some of them get so many views, except for having been posted a long time ago. Some of the top 500 are newer than my most viewed story.
