For the lyric lovers at Lit. Someone posted this on an email list I belong to today as their "thought for the day." I liked it, and it seems to fit some of the things going on at Lit right now. Enjoy!

I'm only human; I'm just a man
Help me believe in what I could be and all that I am
Show me the stairway I have to climb
Lord, for my sake, teach me to take, one day at a time.

CHORUS:
One day at a time, Sweet Jesus, that's all I'm asking from you
Just give me the strength to do every day what I have to do
Yesterday's gone, Sweet Jesus, and tomorrow may never be mine
Lord, help me today, show me the way, one day at a time.

Do you remember, when you walked among men
Well, Jesus, you know, if you are looking below,
It's worse now than then
Cheating and stealing, crime after crime
So for my sake teach me to take, one day at a time.

CHORUS repeated

Now imagine it being sung by Chris Christoferson (probably not spelled right) Old song but thanks for posting cheyenne

Thanks! I've been sitting here trying to remember the melody and I couldn't. Maybe I can find the music with that hint.

Kristofferson?

WillyW:

I read this thread and said to myself, "Yeah, that's the Kristofferson song." Then, ten minutes later, I had one of those thoughts. Could you be confusing this with "Why Me, Lord?," a KK tune with a similar lyrical theme. It started out...

"Why me, lord?
What have I ever done
To deserve even one
Of the (somethings) I've known..."

The chorus went something like:

Lord help me, Jesus
I've wasted it so
Help me, Jesus,
My soul's in your hands..."

Just a thought.
