One book questions are usually phrased with being trapped on a deserted island. The easy answer to that is a raft and boat building book. But many people carry all they own in a backpack or suitcase, with maybe one book. If you would choose a such a life, what's your book?

I could never pack my life into one suitcase. When my family, friends , and I go to the lakehouse in the summer, I bring at least my purse, my backpack, and a somewhat large suitcase. I bring yarn, art supplies, books, etc. At home, I own over 2,000 books. I'm just like that, I guess!

You sound like my wife. She takes her Ralph Lauren handbag when we go camping.

My one book would be "The History of the Peloponnesian War" by Thucyidides. Maybe in the original Greek. It would make me learn a new language and help me go to sleep. I might even learn how to build an ancient Greek vessel.

One fish...Two fish...

Isolation makes people nuts. All other books would be used as fire starter

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, by Robert Pirsig. First read it in London in 1977, and a few times since.

Brave New World, Aldous Huxley and Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China, Jung Chang.
