Each year on South Street (where all the clubs are located) here in Philly there are Mardi Gras parties. Last year the crowds were huge and much property damage was done and several women were molested in front of onlookers. Many fights and people hurt.

So, this year the police stepped up the preventive measures to keep everything under control. Well, I am watching the news do a live broadcast of the crowds beating on cops and two women being attacked with the cops not yet reaching them. The view is from an overhead copter. They estimate 5000 people in a three block area.

Disgusting.

How does your city deal with large party crowds?

This is amazing

the police are almost helpless, there are so many people. Now a group is looting a store as others drag some people out into the street and are kicking them. The police rush to one scene and something starts at another. Imagine a stadium full of people all between home plate and second base and drunk.

This will make the news headlines around the country tomorrow. What a sick crowd of people. They just looted another two stores. There are cops getting clubbed and run over. I am sad about my city.

The cops are now announcing by loudspeaker to the residents of nearby expensive row homes to flee their homes as fast as they can.

Hey Tony, so the faith-based support programs that your Mayor was lauded for during the President's speech aren't keeping things under control? Or maybe since the Mayor is in DC, the police are handling things differently?

Don't get me started on our Mayor. He is not well liked or supported. The cops have kindof let it fizzle out plus there are MANY of them now.
