On the otherhand Greenland, Canada, Siberia, and Antarctica will become habitable and other regions will become benign and available for agricultural production. The Arctic Ocean will become navigable and save 1000s of miles of transport distance. The Arctic Ocean will become available for oil production.

Europe is fucked, but so what? We forfeit a few cesspools for pristine new worlds.

I'm sorry. Check your link. Here's the headline of the article it calls up:

On a planet 4C hotter, all we can prepare for is extinction

It's about how with a 4 degree rise, we'll enter the zone of the Runaway Greenhouse Effect, where the heating curve goes exponential, the arctic permafrost melts and releases vast amounts of methane and the oceans release all the dissoved CO2. This will change the pH and salinity of the water, which will probably kill all the plankton, and there goes the oxygen.

It'll be a great world for plants. Not so good for animals.

I got it right.

Theyre preaching doom, but a NOAA book I recently read disclosed that there are plenty of benefits, too. NOAA confirmed that Europe's fucked, but plenty of other places will be a lot better.
