Never, no, you don't have to learn German, but it helps. Yes, you have to use an adapter. Germans are nice, but formal when they don't know you. (I like that) There is some good food, and some bad food. I'm not fond of German food. We will be staying off base, most likely. They seem to like Americans just fine, as long as you obey the rules. Northern German, near the border of The Netherlands and Belgium. There, does that answer your questions, Never?

April I just checked it out, and actually you are closer to the Mistress than you are to me. I'm around 560 miles from Geilenkirchen, the Mistress is only around 310 from there.

When will you be moving there??

WOOHOOO April - that sounds great, at least you make it sound great! And you will be closer to me that you thought since I too will be moving "further up north" myself due to a new job see- strange things happen!

And HEY!!! if ever you should have a problem with German food let me know and I will point you in the right direction! I admit we do eat some strange stuff (like Souerkraut)*lol* ... but we have quite a few very nice dishes too! (at least in the South were I was born and live at the moment)

So - welcome to our side of the pond baby (wnhen exactly are you planing on moving anyway?) and let me know if I can be of assistance with any information ..

I will be moving in early June. That is the plan right now. Most depends on military schedules. It's a fast move, but that suits us. I will be sad to give up some things, but that's okay. Overall, it will be better. And I truly believe that our previous experience will make for a smoother move.

Personally, I would like to meet any and all who want to. I plan to have a really great time while in Germany. Can't wait to get there!
