Jerry Nadler comes out firing as Bill Barr appears before Congress: You have ‘aided and abetted’ Trump ‘at his worst’

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) read the riot act to Attorney General William Barr for his “twisted” administration of justice.

The New York Democrat opened the hearing, which was delayed after Nadler was in a car crash, with a fiery rebuke of Barr’s service under President Donald Trump.

“Congress established the Department of Justice to enforce the nation’s first civil rights laws after the Civil War,” Nadler said. “From that moment on, it became the department’s responsibility to ensure the right to vote and to stem the tide of systemic racism. Now, not every attorney general in the intervening 150 years has given full expression to these two goals. I am certain that every administration has fallen short of those promises in some way overtime.”

“But today, under your leadership, sir, these two objectives are more at risk than at any time in modern history,” Nadler added. “Your tenure has been marked by a persistent war against the department’s professional core in an apparent attempt to secure favors for the president. Others have lost sight of the importance of civil rights laws, but now we see the full force of the federal government brought to bear against citizens demonstrating for the advancement of their own civil rights. There is no precedent for the Department of Justice to actively seek out conflict with American citizens under such flimsy pretext or for such petty purposes.”
And he did not stop there!

“We are as a nation witnessing the federal government turn violently on its own people, and although responsibility for the government’s failure to protect the health, safety and constitutional rights of the American people belongs squarely to President Trump, he could not have done this alone,” Nadler said. “He needed help. After he finished utterly humiliating his first attorney general, he found you. In your time at the department, you have aided and abetted the worst failing of the president.”

“This administration has twisted the Department of Justice into a shadow of its former self, capable of serving most Americans only after it has first served those in power,” Nadler said. “This committee has responsibility to protect Americans from that kind of corruption, Mr. Barr.”

Finally Jerry got some balls! All hail Jerry, All Hail Jerry!

:D:D:D:D

Nadler's had a pair all along. He's always been straightforward to the point that I've seen. And he's pretty much done what he can.

I was able to watch a fair portion of the five hours today and found Barr was as slippery as ever, The Dem's hit him from all angles but never really were able to land a body blow.

The closest anyone came was when Barr was asked if there was anyway that the PeeResident could change the date of the election and Barr replied "I haven't looked into it." They should have pressed the issue as the Constitution is very clear and unambiguous. They should have asked if a skilled lawyer could weasel word his way around the plain meaning of the Constitution, the way that Barr did by finding that the Congress had to show the Executive some legislative intent to make the Treasury cough up the PeeResident's taxes, despite the law's plain requirement for the Ways and Means Chairman to be provided the tax records upon request.

Repugnicunts showered Barr with praise and generally licked Donnie's boots clean while pumping the use of the jackboots to oppose demonstrations by Democrats and avoiding criticizing the Armed Rethuglican rebellion in Michigan.

So Dem got to bat and had a few hits but scored few runs.

This proceeding with Barr reminded me of Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing. Kavanaugh had been briefed by Trump and his White House staff how to waste Dems questioning time and it appears Barr had been briefed as well. Barr is just another Trump lackey.

IMPEACH BARR........... they have countless reasons.

The Senate will sit on their hands........... but........... not if they finish the impeachment for the NEXT Senate.

Barr should NEVER have been allowed back into government after explaining to the first Bush how to avoid impeachment.

Yes, I don't know why the Democrats are being shy about shining light on all this fascist stuff of the Trump "administration" through the impeachment process. Assured success in removal isn't what is relevant to a controlling extent in doing so. Putting the spotlight on the un-American activity is. Keeping the Republicans in the Senate accountable is as well.

Prominent legal expert slams Bill Barr for ‘unethical, deceitful conduct’ and a pattern of dishonesty

On July 22, a group of legal experts and prominent attorneys in Washington, D.C. filed a letter of complaint against Attorney General William Barr, accusing him of acting unethically in service of President Donald Trump and failing to honor the rule of law. That letter, attorney Paul Rosenzweig stresses in a USA Today op-ed published on July 28, was perfectly justified — as Barr has shown a pattern of dishonesty.

Oh, Really?

Rosenzweig, who served as a senior counsel to right-wing attorney Kenneth Starr during the Whitewater investigation of President Bill Clinton during the 1990s, writes, “According to the complaint, Attorney General Barr has violated the Washington, D.C. rules and engaged in unethical conduct. It says he has been dishonest and deceitful, and has also interfered with the administration of justice. Barr, of course, is not just any lawyer — he is the most important public lawyer in America. If anything, ethical violations by a lawyer holding a public office should be viewed as more egregious because the violations betray the public trust attached to the office.”

Barr, Rosenzweig adds, was dishonest about the Mueller Report and the former special counsel’s conclusions.

“In multiple statements and press appearances,” Rosenzweig explains, “Barr said the report absolved the president of criminal liability for obstructing justice. We now know, of course, that it did no such thing and that, as over 1000 prosecutors have said, the evidence of the president’s criminality was substantial. Being dishonest with the public in this way is unethical, deceitful conduct.”

Some might call it TREASON!

Bill Barr Repeatedly Lied, Under Oath, about Judge Amy Berman Jackson

In just one exchange with Ted Deutch-
Barr claimed at least six times that Judge Amy Berman Jackson agreed with his analysis on the Roger Stone sentence.

Barr tried — and ultimately succeeded — in dodging Deutch’s question, which is whether
there was ever a time in the history of the Justice Department where DOJ considered threats
against a witness and a judge just a technicality.
