Big John Wayne fan here, loved The Searchers and True Grit also loved a lot of the spaghetti westerns as well.

What was the TV programme that had Paul Newman in it.....was it called "Wanted dead or alive" ?

"Branded" was my favourite.
I thought Chuck Connors was great as the existential hero trying to find meaning in his life after being quite literally drummed out of the army.

Rawhide,,,, most definite favorite

Wild Wild West, close second.. it was so cheesy, tho.

Rawhide had those sexy cowboys like Eastwood and the main guy who I can't remember his name?????
Liked the theme song too..

Cassidy

clint eastwood in the "Outlaw Josey Wales" simply the best

"dying aint much of a living boy"

More to sarahuk4's list of oldies

Does anyone remember a TV show called "The Virginian"? It was such a good show. I believe Doug McClure was in it and so was a man named James Drury, who was the Virginian. I'm not quite sure of the spelling of their names, though. I can remember thinking that James Drury was the most handsome cowboy I'd ever seen.

Sarah,

Chuck Connors was the Rifleman. My grandfather told me that he once played baseball for the Cubs. I don't really know when that was, but I thought that was pretty amazing. I also liked that show, too.

Enchanted is right about Chuck Conners playing the Rifleman..and John Crawford was his son in the series. I remember getting the hard cover book of the Rifleman for Christmas when i was a kid. I dont know if you had that series in the UK or not but it was quite popular here in Canada and i would imagine the U.S. as well.

Enchanted..the Virginian brings back memories. that was a good show.
How about Have Gun Will Travel? Bat Masterson? geeze, i am starting to feel old now. i havent thought about those shows in many moons.

speaking of many moons...how about Hawkeye and Chingnachook, the Last of the Mohicans?
