Old Story Anon Feedback?

I have submitted a few stories but quite a few years back. One of my series was quite popular and I submitted chapters in 2000, 2001,2002 and the fourth instalment in 2005. So after a ten year hiatus I thought it was forgotten about. However over the last fortnight I have had several emails...all by anonymous of course...asking me to continue. Probably the same persistent person. Anyone else ever encountered this over a long forgotten storyline? If the person had added a way of replying perhaps they could have given me an idea of where they think the story could now go? Very strange I find it...

I haven't been on Lit nearly as long as the original poster, but I recently got a request to continue a series I haven't touched for a litter over two years, and thought that was odd. It must have been a little surprising.

I do browse stories from the 'similar story' list at the end of a story, or just go to the story tags and select the ones that interest me. That way I get lots of stories that are old. And yes, I have been known to beg for a continuation, lol I feel guilty because I've got a couple of unfinished series myself.

I had someone request a continuation on a story that was clearly written as a one off standalone piece. Readers, can't live without them, can't live with them.

Almost daily I get a question on whether I'm going to continue this or that very old story. Well, no, it was a short story, not the beginning of an "until death do us part" epoch. That said, sometimes the question jogs my muse to expand it.

On the whole, users at Literotica don't seem to understand that short stories and novels are two different animals and that you don't need to do a novel's work in a short story.

The surprising thing for me is how actively read my backlist at Lit. is. This doesn't happen much with books in the mainstream.

I experience the same. One or two stories on my backlist are favourited at least once a month, and sometimes I get comments asking for completed stories to be continued. Some of those stories are so old I'd have to rethink myself back into the author I was a decade ago.

Old Story Feedback

I do get the odd anon email or feedback now and again.

One thing I've noticed, is that people tend not to leave feedback as much after the initial posting. My stuff has a slow but steady stream of votes and favorites, but actual feedback or email queries is very sporadic.

That's been my experience also.

I turned off anonymous feedback ages ago. I decided that "This is the best story I've ever read," while a nice ego stroke, gave me as much information as "This story sucks."

Now, that said, I, as well, have received the occasional comment about a story of mine, years after the fact. Some of them have turned into long term friends, some of them just wanted to throw their two cents in. I'll admit, I have several stories I intended (and still do intend) to possess several more installments than they have, but time and ideas have slowed that to a glacial crawl.

My early stories were posted when feedback was only possible by email. Public Comments didn't exist.

Some of those early stories now have PCs, but years after they were first posted.

Every once in a while, a reader will 'discover' you and tear through your stuff. I will go from having six or seven favorites in my recent activity (I have it bookmarked to the past week) and then suddenly it will be twenty or thirty favorites, all by the same username. They'll leave new comments and such. But its pretty rare for me.

How's the posting time these days? I was reading a half finished story fragment from my junk file and something just, kindled. Finished it in a week.
