Old mink???

What does one do with Mum-in-law's old mink now that one can't really wear it out side???

Question is more for Wife, as you can see I can find things to do with them

PS - please don't call PETA on me, these come from a time before most PETA members were even born...

and besides there is no way I would consider owning these myself, but, you see, we have them from my Wife's parents...

I have old furs too Shankara.

Like you I would NOT EVER kill animals just for fur!

But I do have old furs. To throw that a way seems fruitless, like a disrespect. I also reuse what we can. I am trying to become better at preserving small hides and furs of things that are used here for meat etc, because to not use fully also seems disrespectful to me. To rear just for vanity fur? Not charming...yet we do not consider this in the food industry...how we eat animal products and rear them in modern industry.


I think wear them. Let them be used, on chairs as throws. Or on you for enjoyment. Their loss is already. I like the photos, and am glad you do not glamourise new, farmed fur.

I'm in agreement. If it comes up from anyone that's a good discussion starter.

I do living history events and I can tell you that old furs are in demand among those of us who camp in the winter. A stole, for instance makes a great lining for a pair of cold weather moccasins. You could make fur lined hats, a turban, mittens, bags...or use pieces of them to decorate a shirt, bag, headpiece etc. Or you can wear them. The possibilities are endless. If you don't like fur don't buy it but don't dispose of it. I agree that disposing of it is a dishonor to the animal who was killed.

I cannot tell for the coat ( white and black are hard to photo huh. And more question of things like seams, but the stole looks in good condition, no? It looks very beautiful.

Have yet to check into the condition of the skin but the top side condition of the fur is excellent.

If it's not been suggested,I would suggest you take one in the worst condition,and have your wife wear it for you.I.E. naked,with it turned inside out.
Makes for quite the sensory experience...
