Wow. My last little thread blew up before it could even choke me. But this is a way serious one which I have sorta personal tie to. I see that Tomothy McVey, the Oklahoma bomber, is set to be executed on May 16th. He has waived all appeals except may ask for clemency, from the President I guess.

I have all these mixed up feelings about the death penalty. And my personal connection. I am not looking for viscious opinions but go ahead if you must, I juss wonder...lil babies died, mothers died, wonderful sexy men, who woulda made their women warm at night, died...what do we do?

We keep him in prison at hard labor, not let him control his destiny by "agreeing" to die.

And your last thread did not blow up, it just wasn't clear, and people asked questions, that's all.

People might very well hate me for this response, but this is how I feel about everything. If I were on the jury, I couldn't have sentenced him to death. Now, before you blow up and call me names here's why. If he were my brother, father, uncle, husband, I couldn't press the button to end his life, and even though he did those awful things, he is still someone's family.

I know that people died, children, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, and I know that they had families. They didn't deserve what happened to them.

I couldn't flip the switch on my brother, and I wouldn't want someone to flip the switch on him. I can't judge men on there actions, it's not my job, but I know that whoever is up there will one day make a decision.

Now, before you blow up and call me names ....

Will never call names. I can't imagine actually killing soemone either. But sometimes as a society we can do stronger and better things than we can by ourselves? and sometimes worse things.

I don't give a damn what you call me. He's in for the chop.!! I would rather see him spend the reat of his life at hard labor and as bad of a life as possible as an example to others; But that would not happen anyway in our
prisons.

However if he is dead we don't have to worry about him getting out..no matter what and blowing someone else up or killing them in another way. What he did is very different
from even most murderers.

Dying is easy. Way too easy. he should have to live his life out, living with the knowledge everyday of what he did. Living with the hatred others feel for him.

Yes just what I want to do spend my tax dollars on paying for the guy that murdered innocent people, to live in the lap of luxury. 3 meals a day, free education, a roof over his head, clothes on his back, cable tv, free porn, and on top of all that give him a salary as well.

Normally I'm against the death penalty since it's more cost effective not to go through all the death penalty appeals, but since he's already there and ready then lets send him on his way. Perhaps take his usable body parts first. Would anyone object to receiving Tim's heart if it meant keeping you alive?

I don't believe in capital punishment.

Don't get me wrong, what he did was horrible and the ape in me wants to thrash his skull on the pavement, but unfortunately I am civilised and don't believe in pointless killing.

He is insane. Anyone who murders in insane. Not by the legal definition, but maybe they are spiritually insane? Yes, that's it. I once knew a priest who use to say, "There are good people, and there are people in pain."

In pain? That's rather hard for me to swallow when some killers do not regret their crime. Maybe at one time in their lives they felt pain and the pain drove them to the insanity where they could not feel that pain anymore?

Insane or not, I don't believe in capital punishment.

He wants to die, so let him die. I only wish he could die in pain like many of the people who died in the bombing.

Well, interesting idea...except....

:p

What a sweet thing you are....

Well in one sense, I think that death is the easy way out for this slime of the earth guy who did this. But I also do not want to pay for that slime to live and breath for the rest of his natural existence. A compromise? I say we take him out in the desert, tie him down, place nice nibblets that fire ants like to eat all over him, bring him food once a day, continue to leave food for the ants, and let him wither slowly, then when he is just about ready to kick the bucket, take him to a hospital or whatever and let him get a little healthy again and then do it all over. J/K

I don't know I am tossed as to what to do, but I also believe Mcveigh did kill alot of innocent people and should be accountable for what he did. I say flip the switch on him and let him meet his maker. Dunno maybe that is cold but that is the way I see it.

Riff----please reconsider your assessment of Teresafanin....

The debate over capital punishment will rage as long as there are opinions on either side. how do I feel? There are instances where capital punishment is warranted. McVey is one, Manson should be another. To me it isn't really punishment, but protecting society. I equate it to the action taken when an animal kills a person. What happens when a dog kills someone? You destroy it of course. Not in retribution, but to protect anyone else from being killed by that animal. A killer, any killer, that is convicted of murder, where there is no doubt that they are guilty, should be killed, executed, removed permanently from this earth. That ends any threat they could impose. cold hearted? About the killer dying, I sappose it could seem that way to some. I can feel sorry for them, but they shouldn't be allowed the chance to do it again. And if they are alive, there is a chance they could be released or escape. Then what? Will it be your son, your wife, your daughter they murder? could be. I'd rather not take such a chance.

prison

Well I have done some pretty wrong things so I just think I will skip passing judgement. Not that I think judgement is wrong. But as far as prison and the "lap of luxury" and the cable TV and all? Well I have been in prison and I don remember that part.

As you dont know her or her history.

Last year, She lost her only teenage son to a man that
went into a church in Texas and shot at people
attending...her son was one that died.
< you may remember hearing about it. >
She has every right to feel as she does...she is
a Victim of a senseless, heartless and cruel
murderer...just as the families of those killed
by Timothy McVey....

So allow her to vent her anger without judgment.
reserve judgment for those animals that do this
kind of violence.

Please rethink your spitting at her.

Thank you.

I didn't spit at her. I just spit. If what you say is true, then I am sorry for her. It is a very pity.

All I know is that vengence and retribution is not a way to peace. If I had know she was the victim of murder, perhaps I would not have been so caustic.

I don't deny anyone the right to feel the way the feel, or think the way they think. You disagree with me? Fine. I disagree with you. That's the way it is.

While I understand the impulse of wanting to inflict pain and suffering on someone who has wronged you- I also understand this path is a dead end. It does not bring peace.

I'm sorry for what happened to her. But I spit on the entire idea that vengence settles anything. All it does is perpetuate more bloodletting. I apologize for my indelicacy in the treatment of T. I am sorry.

And I ask you to understand, I abhor murder. For any reason- even the kind that America seems to endorse.

Thank you Siren, for understanding.

To riff, I am actually very sweet & unfortunately what Siren says is true. I have never had anyone doubt me before, so I was taken aback. I am not a victim, I am a survivor. I live every day of my life without my only child. 7 people were wounded & 8 people died that night, including the gunman who committed suicide. If that is what he wanted, he should have just done it, there was no reason to take 7 others with him. What happened that night devastated my entire city.None of us will ever be the same. There is NO justice for me, my family or our friends. My Justin deserved better & so did the families in OKC. I hope you never understand what this is like, I wouldn't wish what I go through on anyone, including the family of the man who murdered my son. I don't know if this will work, I am not the most computer literate person in the world. go down to the middle of the page, his name is Justin.

I have to say "eye for eye tooth for tooth"

When People or Convicts go to jail they have way too many rights.

They can get tv's and other such fun activites...
I think that once you comment a crime, Thats it you have lost all your rights , Why should we the people pay for there little needs, Like hell they deserve not to have a damn thing, If they want something then they should have some kind of work program that they have to pay for being in jail.

As for the Death sentence it saves us the people taxes money and retrubution for the loss of loved ones ,That would seek out revenge, let them die I rather pay for them to die then let them live out there whole lives and pay for it..

Besides They are going to go to there own hell any ways beside I think we all know what happen to jeffery daumer , He didn't even last a year in prison....

I'm prepared for the lashings..

My response is Bye, Bye, Bye. I used to know the stats on what it cost you tax payers to keep these people alive. Aren't there people on this board trying to scrimp a living together? Don't you know people craving the chance to go back to school? From threads I have read, some of you aren't quite sure where your next meal is coming from.

Kill someone folks, you get to go back to school, work out in a gym, have 3 - 5 square meals a day, hell, have conjugal visits, marry someone if you like. That's what we work for...to pay for this.

You kill, in cold blood, you die. I resent paying for these people to live the life of Riley.

My own personal opinion:

If you murder someone ... you should get the death sentence and die the same way as the person you killed.

Since the DAY I heard what Susan Smith did to her two little boys, I wished to hell they'd lock her sorry ass in a car and push it into a lake.

I belive in that with a passion. Years ago a little girl was kidnapped and they didn't find her body until a few years later. The story was on America's Most wanted a billion times...She was in a sewer shaft or something having to do with water when they found her corpse. She was only four.

I said it then as a teenager..That motherfucking pig who stole her and killed her should have died exactly the same way that baby did.

[Many prisoners work. And produce. "P-farms" dump and allow to rot many tons of produce that could be sold or given to the poor- but it is made to rot because if this produce were to enter the free-market then it would interfere with the supply-demand dynamic and drive prices down, thereby hurting law-abiding producers who wish to sell the fruit of their labor for a profit.]

[Because we live in a nation where you are innocent until proven guilty, you have the right to the due process of law, including the right to appeal lower court decisions. The appeals process can get lengthy and it can be expensive, but as an American citizen, you have the right to appeal a decision. The convicted are only doing what is within their constitutional right to do. Many of them are guilty- but some are innocent and their cases are overturned. If you were wrongfully convicted, you would appreciate your right to appeal.

Consider taking this right to appeal away. Once sentenced, they drag you out and shoot you like in some totalitarian and/or 3rd world regieme.]

Besides They are going to go to there own hell any ways beside I think we all know what happen to jeffery daumer , He didn't even last a year in prison....

[You really should write a book...]

Ummm... aren't you Canadian there Bobby? Or did you move?

Anyway, I haven't read the whole thread, but the asshole deserves to die. I'd love to let him live out his life in prison, but what does it matter? He feels no remorse, so he won't think about his crimes for the rest of his life and it's not like prison is the torture he deserves, so we might as well make ourselves, and the families of those he killed, feel a little bit better and kill him.

As far as his family... well... shit. That's just too bad. Life goes the way it goes.
