Anyway, the lists are overdone. I can't think of a list that hasn't been done about the people of Lit. Usually I don't say a thing about them because I am not on them and it would appear that I am just jealous or vindictive. So thanks for posting what I was thinking.

I like my list thread...I wish I named it something else but it was borne one evening when the boards were swamped with "list" threads andits been through two more.
Other titles I would have used include:
"Gay Issues`n`stuf with Glamorilla"
"the testosterone thread" and
"Big Time Sensuality"
I usually post songs Im looking for so i dont forget,songs I'm listening too and lyrics that inpsre me.
And pictures of naked men.
Jst becouse i like them.

I hate for anyone to feel as though they aren't good enough, or they aren't as important. I can see why some think those lists are fun and sometimes entertaining, but there are a good many that walk away feeling left out insignificant.
I'm just waiting on the threads titled
"Who has the sexiest eyes"
"Who is the perkiest poster"
"Who is the General Board most eligible man/woman"
"What poster do you think will one day be President"
But perhaps those have already been covered, and I just missed them.

Oh and one last thing on this... If someone were to make a thread trying to list the ugly, dumbest, etc... people would be screaming bloody murder. But what is the difference between a beautiful person and the ugly person thread? To me there is none because if you aren't listed on a beautiful people thread it is seen as your not beautiful and isn't that almost the same as naming names on an ugly people thread? Just some food for thought.

Damn I should take longer to write out my posts because I always forget things.
I wonder if those who make the lists in question ever think about how people will be influenced by what they read on them. I am talking more than just those who aren't mentioned that will feel bad. I am talking about how people will see a name on the thread remember it and be influenced in their decisions on those people left off the list. Like, if a newbie or an oldster reads the list it will not fail in projecting a memory about who they find interesting and whatnot, so they then will sometimes discount another persons valid thoughts or wonderful attributes because they didn't see that person's name on the vaunted list. Or even worse they won't have an open mind to converse with people that weren't on it.
Another thing is that I wonder if the people who make the lists know the trouble they can cause to the people who make it ON the list. I wouldn't be surprised to hear about women or men who were named on the sexiest/beautiful being flooded with unwanted PM's or chat requests.
So it isn't always those who are left off the list the feel the ill effects that the lists create. That is all.

What you're talking about...I dunno...does seem a litte high school to me...but I also don't think its meant to hurt peoples feelings...just a way of people communicating who they might like to get to know better. someties people dont have the guts to come out and say it or can't think of a better approach..

Actually I was "Miss Something or other" my senior year of highschool, all the other shy kids nominated me. I think that all the idiots couldn't decide between all the really popular chicks, so I figure that I won due to their own stupidity.
Personally I'd rather be voted 'most likely to succeed' than 'the hottie'
Sad that we as adults, aren't past that juvenile labeling crap.
I just hate for people to feel badly ..... and for people to feel as though they need that type of validation. I do not however think that there is any malicous intent to those lists, maybe it's a way for them to feel involved, to get to know others, or to feel included as well.
