I know that there would be no place to post a this at Lit, but I'm just curious, so here goes.

How would you classify a story where all the characters are animals? Say, two horses who can think and feel? Would anybody think that you could write something erotic with characters like that? (I think so) Not sure how to really go about it, but am curious to find out what others might think, if interested.

As long as they're old horses (over 18), you could post this at Lit in the Non-Human category. :p

Actually there were some scenes in "Animal Farm" that got kinda steamy ...

weird question

Non-human gets my vote. Sounds interesting.

The edited out portion of "Animal Farm" had the pigs makin' bacon in the background because they were more equal than the other animals. Little known literary fact.

Are you thinking stricktly animal? Might be more believable if you used fantasy animals, put it more in a non-human type setting. Something almost fantasy...but not quite....maybe almost a planet of the apes type thing, where the animals are the superior being.

Just a thought

Wow, and here I thought everyone would laugh! :D

There are so many categories at Lit, that I sometimes forget them all - thanks all of you who reminded me about the "Non-Human" category!

And, yes, to answer some one's question. The animals I'm thinking of would be more mythical/fantasy, as I have a fascination for the unicorn.

Thanks to all who replied! I think you may have set some wheels in motion!

Thats the animal I was thinking of!

Something like THE UNICORN FINALLY RISES or maybe WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO CATCH A UNICORN?

Just the thought of either as a title gives me lots of ideas, but hey it's your story, have fun.

Actually, I did write a sex story about horses.
(They were off on the prairie with no humans around.)
I called it "Grass."
It's not on Lit, but it is on my website.

How?

How do the horses lay in bed and talk after sex? They can't hold a cigarette?

But, seriously, it does seem to have its good points. It could be interesting. Sort of a 'Babe' for adults? Not your ordinary barnyard animals.

Would be very interesting to see how you handled this topic, but when I try to access your website, I get an error message. Not sure if it is just my computer, and I will try again later, but thought you should know.

What, you've never read "Watership Down"?

Or how about the Redwall series by that Jacques guy? Weird Harold, help me out here. I know you know the author's name.

I'm not a fan of the Redwall series, but the author is, I believe, Brian Jacques.

Anthromorphic animals are actually fairly common in science fiction and fantasy. You can write about a lot of things that aren't acceptable for humans to do if the characters are animals.

Thanks for the note on my webpage.
Somehow, I got the URL wrong. On my profile it starts
htp://htp//
which is obviously wrong.
I tried to change it, but it hasn't changed yet.
I'll log in again tomorrow, and -- if it
hasn't changed by then -- bitch to Laurel.
Thanks again.

I know how I'd approach such a story, through magic. I would create a situation where some evil sorcerer, had turned all the inhabitants of a fictional town into animals.

The only way to break the spell would be to find your true love and have sex, whether it be a pig and horse, a goat and a dog etc. Of course to make it erotic the spell would have to break quickly in the mating scene, so that you could finish it with humans.

Might be better

with some unknown force that mysteriously makes it so all animals and bugs can speak. There may be more situations if nothing has changed, except now the bugs and animals can be understood. Just a thought, if you were to take it into a humor direction. OK, I will shut up, now.

Not that hard with two animals.

In Norse mythology theres a myth about Loki changing into a female horse and having sex with a male horse and brought about Sleipner. Don't see it as being all that impossable, challenging yes but not unfeasable.

Another idea would be to start it off with someone witnessing the mating ritual between a horse and mare, which then triggers off a dream. Of course with a dream anything is possible, so that would be easy.

Another idea would be to set it up like a midsummers night dream type affair, where the mischievous Puck turns all the mortals into animals for one night.

Or experimenting with genetics, I could go on but I think you get the idea. lol

Carl

ps Isn't the imagination a wonderful thing. lol

Loved Watership Down, no sex in it but I loved it. Kind of surprising, the no sex part I mean, they WERE rabbits after all! Also Richard Adams was quite the hornytoad as evidenced by a later book - Maia - GREAT sexy read.

Thanks a second time. It is now corrected. Like
a fool, I saw the corrections, and didn't check them out.
(It still has me as an unreported sex, even though I tried
to change that.)
