I got a strange email today; I assume it was from here since it always referenced my story as being in the, "Loving Wives," genre. Usually when I get an email from here it says, "Feedback," but this said, "Review." It had nothing about Literotica in the address and the scoring was two 9's and an 8?

I only have this story posted in two places and this is not consistent with either of them.
Can anyone give me a clue?

Was it nice feedback? or weird?

Do keep posting. Thirty-two more posts and you can have an avatar! It's easy to slot in a few posts in Free Association and stuff, just go for it.

That sounds very SOL. http://storiesonline.net/help/Storiesonline_Help#votes

The three scores make it sound like the Expanded Voting Form.

That was my guess also, except

that SOL did away with the 3 number scoring system; now it's just 1 through 10. Also, what made me believe it was from here, was the constant reference to, 'Loving Wives.' SOL has no such genre.

The critique itself was fine; Hmmmmm a mystery! I wonder if there's a LW story in here somewhere? :)

Under closer exam I believe you're right, I think it came from SOL; thank you, all.

NaokoSmith: Thanks for the invite to keep posting but I learned a little while ago to only post if I have a question; I tried to offer my opinion on a thread once and was completely shot down and insulted. I learned that posting on the bulletin board is much like submitting stories to the LW genre.

Thanks, everyone, for the help.

Oh dear! you can get flamed if the trolls are in the mood for it on here. Best to ignore them and just post dancing bananas if they are being grumpy, I find. In a lot of the threads we have a good laugh and a virtual drink (Naked Party, and I think Last One to Post often has fun conversations going on). Lots of the threads are light-hearted writing practice threads, or teasers to keep your brain going.

OK, as far as I am concerned, Six Words is just an excuse for blatant flirting ;), but you can always wait till I am offline to go on there <snerk>.

And people are very kind about answering all sorts of questions.

Most likely, it was a review from SOL -- the reviews still have the multi-faceted scoring system, even though the main site has done away with it.

Not many stories get reviewed, so you really hit home with someone :)

Check the listing for your story ( on your story listing, not your stats page ) and you should see the little "review" notation at the bottom. That links directly to the review.

Darkniciad, right you are!

Thank you, you have solved the mystery. I looked where you said and there was the review.
Thanks again!

You mentioned I should post here more often; if you'd like to see why I only ask questions, take a look at this thread.
Dumb phases you've been through.

Okay, I looked a that thread...you didn't post there. Not a peep. You may have thought you did, but...nada.

Do keep posting. Put in your two cents. Sure you might get flamed or shot down. So what. Be a duck. Then goose the asshole that flamed you. What's the worst that will happen? Nothing. So what if some asshole...like Jimmy...taunts you. Ignore him or put him on ignore. I actually have no one on ignore as each and every post the asses make and they know who they are, make me laugh.

My feeling is that laptopwriter is indicating he/she is taking some sort of high road and not posting to Lit because he/she feels doing so was just a "dumb phase."

Not everyone can stomach the variety of postings on this site. ;)

I thought that too, but just thought I'd let them know that there are reasons to post here that aren't just a phase, dumb or otherwise.

Gentlemen,

I know I did not post on that thread; my point was, what's the point? It started out to be a legitimate discussion but within a few posts, turned into nothing but several people insulting one another.

I have checked out many of the threads and that seems to be a common occurrence, in fact, it's the norm.

It happened to me. I tried to add to a discussion and was immediately shot down in flames for being so bold as to contribute.

So, once again I ask; what's the point...just to exchange barbs with others?

That being said,

I was wondering how many stories it usually takes before someone is not considered a "new" author anymore?

The first story I submitted took forever to post; I now have 5 under my belt and have submitted my sixth...as of 11pm tonight, it has been "pending" for 7 days.

I was told originally the delay in posting was due to me being a new author; okay, how long does it take to lose that moniker?

I don't think much of anyone here thinks in terms of "new" authors. And to the extent they do, it probably has more to do with how long you've been posting them than how many you've posted. Most folks posting to the forum don't write stories for Literotica at all--or, if they do, it's just a token one or two. You're already past that.

Other than JBJ doing his usual thing, that's a pretty tame thread--with most responding to the question.

There's a contest going on. Anytime there is a contest, it creates a "slight" delay for non-contest stories. Just what that "slight" delay might be, I'm not sure, but the contest is it. I've submitted non-contest stories during contests a few years ago, and the delay then was an extra day.

Timeframes overall have changed, so....

I don't give any credence to the idea that being a "new author" creates an extra delay in when your story might post. When I started writing, I was told "three to four days," and that's exactly how long it took.

Have you been clicking on the "pending?" That will send your story to the back of the line. I did that once and have never done it since.

Good luck with your story! Let us know when it posts, okay? :)

Thanks again,

No, I haven't been clicking on, "pending." I know that puts it back to the end of the line. I was also told 4 days but it's currently 7.

Normally I wouldn't care but this is a sequel and as such, I feel time sensitive. In addition, there is some violence in the first chapter. I do not feel it is excessive and I have certainly read worse in stories posted here, but I understand it is a gray area. If they bounce chpt 1 I want to make sure and pull the other chapters so they don't mistakenly run.

I doubt it's a function of being new. I have four waiting in the queue now and, with over 600 stories, I'm hardly new at it here. In addition to a contest going on with fast-track privileges, it's also the July 4th week in the States and there's only one Lit. editor. Maybe she's on a slowdown to take a day or two off. If you were publishing in the mainstream, you might have to wait nine months.

With one person doing the posting I can see how

it might take longer around a holliday.

I've waited longer than 9 months in the mainstream. I sent an article into Camera 35 once; they bought it immediately then waited 2 years to publish it.

My last two were pre-approved to appear at a later date, which lends weight toward her preparing to take some time off.

Speaking of slowdown, I don't remember the AH being as dead as it has been the last couple of days. Am I the only one doing work as usual (while following Wimbledon)?

I expect slowdowns like this around all the U.S. holidays.

Tomorrow should be a real graveyard.

I'll be working all day tomorrow too. My desktop computer has made the 125,000-word anthology I was half way through reviewing "read only" on its own volition and nothing I can do can free it. I've transferred it to a laptop to continue, but it's really grrrrrr.

Retreating to a mountaintop next week to work on a pen name book.

Gee that doesn't sound like anyone we know.

Sometimes that is the point, other times it's to learn. Every experience, every turn of phrase is a learning experience. Even if it's to find out who has to have the last word.

Besides, it funny to watch barbs thrown and parried, once you get to know the players. It's just too bad that there isn't a thread with true bio's on each user. But this is the internet and what anyone says about themselves should be taken with a grain of salt. In some cases there isn't enough salt in all the oceans of the world, but then again none of us are using our really names here anyway.
