Well, just something that mother nature tends to do, if you look into the insect world. Bugs, birds (female and babies), even animals all have markings that match surroundings for their safety.Technodivinitas said:That concept that non-furry spiders are more poisonous- I find that one hard to buy, just because there are so many kinds of spiders in the world, hairy, spiny, smooth, and just plain other. I always assume that if it's a spider, it can bite, and that such a bite is likely to be at least as unplesant as a nettle or a bee-sting, so if I don't know it really well, I just don't let it touch my skin if possible.

Must have been a poor, misdirected male. He was close, but not quite.A Desert Rose said:One got me twice, on each side of my belly button... in bed.
What part of the country? North east?MissTaken said:Okay, now I am searching to try to accurately identify these critters.
I thought they were jumping spiders because they jump, (DOH), but they dont' have the ornate markings and colors of most of them.
They are rather boring, black and about the size of a quarter.
