I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Lefty from way back.

I'm also a Trumpkin now.

What's the platform of today's Left?

Frankly, in the middle of all of the need for daily 'media' we almost never get to hear what the authentic ideas about policy are.

I'll admit to deliberately poking away at the big cloud of fog in order to get people 'triggered.' It's one of the funniest things I've ever done for my own entertainment.

But I'm quite capable of listening to actual ideas, just to see if or whether at some future time I'll need to jump ship and hitch a ride elsewhere to save my soul.

Right now Booker is telling me Kavanaugh is inherently someone with a political bias; yeah, I already 'knew'/assumed that though.

What's the Left going to give me?

In Australia back in the Seventies it gave me art, genuine culture opened up by taxpayer dollars, significantly increased education opportunities (which have not been as squandered over here as they most evidently have been in the world's biggest cesspool of sheer utter ignorance backed with dollars...) ...and pulling out of Vietnam and similar crackpot misadventures.

But now what? I've got stupid people and 'highly credentialed' ignoramuses and Linda Cockroach yelling in my ear and I don't understand what the message is.

First I had G. Bush telling me I had to be libertized, and now I have Professor Reza Aslan telling me I have to be credentialized.

What's the platform? What am I going to get? What's the promise?

I think both parties are corrupt.

The repubs though, at least give lip service to conservative principles, like not spending more than you make. Like using what you have efficiently. Like telling the truth (at LEAST when pressed into a corner) and accepting the consequences.

You know what lip service is, right? They part their lips, maybe wet them, and spread them open to accept offerings of love from their target demographic If they'd stop with the "ruining" bit, I'd be fine with them.

I doubt there is a politician on either side that truly and completely working in our best interests. They serve themselves or their owners.

For lack of a better choice, I'm on the repub side.

Look at the last budget, DOD gets 80 million more than they asked for, and sucks half the total budget, with the Tax cuts, revenue is way less than expenses and we don't even have a war on.

Neither the Rethugs or the Democrats are interested in governing the country for the long term, only for the purpose of getting reelected.

However I believe the Rethug's are a greater collection of ass-kissers with no interest in the 98%.

A quick read of those party platform points shows most of them are being addressed already by President Trump.

Creating jobs, improving the economy, fixing problems in the voting system, addressing climate / energy issues, supporting our soldiers, etc. President Trump has been kicking butt on all these and more.

The article didn't dispute that jobs were coming back. The reporter just didn't like the type of jobs. Hey, whatever I have to do to put food on my family's table, I do. I'll flip burgers, pick apples or sweep floors if I have to. Honest work is work.

As for shootings, people shoot each other for all sorts of reasons. If you find yourself understanding such people, run.
