Okay, kids, here's the problem. I've looked all over the website and can't seem to find out how long it takes for a submission to end up as a posted story.

Also, call me naive (you'll be the first), but what's up with the statuses (stati?) "virgin?" Been a long time since I was accused of THAT! Is it based on your number of posts?

Anyone who's got the lowdown, I'd sure like to be enlightened.

Thanks in advance,
Jason

There's no set time, JHolley. It could be as long as six weeks. It could be as little as two days (if the new scripts get installed soon.) No one can say. You just have to be patient.

As for the virgin tag, that stays with you until you've made a certain number of posts on the bulletin board. I can't remember how many.

Good luck with your writing. (I highly suggest getting someone to edit your story first. Look at the volunteer editing list or ask for an editor in the editing section of the bulletin board.)

Hey, Whisper.

Thanks for the info and the advice. I can appreciate the importance of an editor. In fact, I've recently volunteered as an editor. I have some experience. ;-)

Board status

Maybe this will help -

1 to 29 posts - virgin
30 to 99 posts - experienced
100 to 299 posts - really experienced
300 to 499 posts - really really experienced
500 to 999 posts - guru
after 1000, you get to pick your own title.

Relax, no one really thinks you are a virgin. Besides, deflowering can be fun with the right person. ;)

Welcome to the BB.

Okay, that helps a lot....

Thanks for the info. That gives me something to shoot for.
Now slap yourself for that nasty thought. ;-)

Jason

This is my 2nd post... I'm putting it here so that I can eventually work the virgin designation off of my name! *lol*

Something to shoot for....

Okay, Dillinger, welcome to the board. Now if you really want to rack up the frequent flyer miles, start a nice controversial thread. Use your imagination. You're around a lot of people that don't offend easily, so just toss something out there.

Here's an example: Why are all women such bitches?

Ladies, please note, I said this was an EXAMPLE! I don't personally think all women are bitches. Just the one's that won't go out with me. ha ha

Jason

Jason,

You are such an asshole! Women are *not* all bitches! Who the hell do you think you are? Just because you get over 29 posts, you think you're all that?

(I'm kidding, of course. Your post had me on the floor--are you an editor/writer in RL?)

I question whether Jason, as an "experienced" poster, can be considered a newbie. I'm with Dillinger--I plan to post until I can reliquish that "virgin" status. I will work the backseat of this discussion board until my cherry has been popped...

When can I reliquish "newbie"?

Well, I never!

How rude! ha ha I love it when a girl calls me out.

Actually, yes, I am a writer/editor in real life. I write a story, then edit the shit out of it. Then I usually decide it's not worth the paper it's printed on.

Okay, I'm sort of working on a sci-fi novel right now and have a murder mystery and a vampire novel on the back burners. It will be interesting to see which one gets published first.

Jason

P.S. Bitch.

ditto

I have to agree with that asshole thing. I looked for a story here to see if you could back up your braggadocio but I do not see one, Jason the Sooner. I await with baited breath your offering of superiority. The new lists do not have old stories listed so if you could provide me with the titles of your past stories so I could see first hand your magnificent intellect.

JHolley, you could very well have stories up under some other name, so forgive me if that's the case. If not, I just wanted to say that I sympathize. <grins>

You've pronounced yourself A Writer, and now they're calling on you to prove it. I did something similar, prancing all around this bulletin board about the value of good grammar, plot, character development, but I hadn't a word up in the story area.

Just be prepared for a major case of second thoughts when you finally post your first story. I swear I sweated bullets worrying that, after they read what I had written, people would think I'd been full of shit all along, and that I couldn't write worth beans. Thankfully, my story has been up since May, and if anyone thought it was full of shit, they've kept it to themselves.

I look forward to reading something of yours.

A lot to live up to....

Okay, Andra, Whisper. You have given me much to consider. But I am the sort of person that won't post a damn thing until I'm sure it's at least technically correct. I'm hoping my stories get posted soon as I submitted them in November. I understand the backlog, so I'll be patient. And when they show up, I hope to hear from each of you personally.

The titles in question are "The Present" and "Bedside Manner."

Enjoy.

What an interesting question....

Funny someone from London would know about the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training. I received my armed security license in January of this year. I took my training at a local vocational technical school. Funny thing, I was working security there at the time, on my conditional license.

So, why do you ask?

The world is always smaller than you imagine...

I used to teach phases I, II, and III...wondered if you were one of "mine".

Take care and always keep one chambered...

If only....

Believe me I would love to have a chamber for my bullet. ha ha ha

But seriously, I took all four phases under a guy named Bob Graham. Retired OKC cop and PI. Great guy. Then I took my armed phase from the current police chief in Meeker,OK.

And between you and me, I prefer my sword for home defense. Still kinda bloody but I don't wake the neighbors. ;-)

So that is 3 matchbooks you've submitted?

Oh, Puh-lease!
If writers knew anything about brevity, novels would fit on the back of a matchbook.

Jason

OOOOOOOOOOOOOh look the words matchbook and back burners and all from a flamer.

How impressive....

Wasn't that cute. Hey Jupiter, why don't you go find my other hundred posts and say something witty?

I'll be watching.

I guess I'd better bone up on my "starting shit" skills. Looks like Jupiter wants to play.

Sorry, JHolley67

Sorry, JHolley67, darling, but what I have read so far did not particularly impress me. I doubt I will be actively seeking anything more.

Sorry Whispersecret

Good! This pissing contest was getting old!

My apologies to JHolley67 were where I was just pissing a little more on the flamer who plays with matchbooks and back burners.

After finding out, I have been irritating you and probably other board members I will now stop pissing here and take it elsewhere.

Great idea!

Excellent thought, Jupiter. Let's take this elsewhere.

I'll be waiting for you by the bike rack after school.

If you wanna play grade school, find some third graders you can pick on. If you want to play with the big boys, you better watch yourself.

So far, with you, Jupiter, I feel about as challenged as I would if I were tricking a retarded kid out of his candy.

Keep trying.

I think you still do that, after all you do love a challenge dont you? But that is just my opinion.
