I hate it when I can't fix something myself.

:p

There is a site that I'm downloading mp3's off of. It's just a site of links - you click, it downloads into a temp file, it plays.

Unfortunately, it wants to play on RealOne - and I don't have the updates (i.e. I'm not paying to use it). I use Musicmatch Jukebox.

How can I get these songs to play on what I use? How can I get RealOne (Real Audio, whatever it is) to stop forcing itself as the primary device?

Help!

Ok, you wanna do this on yahoo or in here?

So you don't like the "losing control" aspect of it huh? Like to be in charge and DOMINATE huh?

Oooops, sorry, this has nothing to do with fixing your MP3 problem. It's a matter of file extension associations. I don't use Real Player, so I am unfamilier with their options but you need to dissassociate the .mp3 file extension from Real Player and reward your other software with it. It can be done by editing your registry(assumes your running windows), but that isn't for the novice. You can reinstall your other software which should overwrite the registry and take control back from Real Player

.....or I could come make a house call and fix it....:p

If you are using XP select all files you want to play holding down the "Ctrl" key, then right click one file. An options box will open with one choice being "Open with". Select your poison. I'm not sure if it works on other OS's...I only discovered it since I started using XP.

She's running 2000 and it's simpler to just have set the program as default to open the file type within the program.

I think Real Player keeps switching back to the default, it seems to on mine.:(

She had to go to sleep, but I believe that you need to make sure that you go into RP and uncheck it as a default before setting another program as the default.

You also have to do that before your RP trial period expires, otherwise you have to pay for the upgrade before you can go in and change your defaults.

For anyone who's interested, I had to just force the link to download where I wanted it to by doing the right click > Save Target As option. Then I right-clicked on the song > Open With > Windows Media Player.

All this so I could satisfy The Evil One and listen to her favorite crooner.

:p

Here's what ya' do.

Take yourcomputer out side, place it gently on the ground.

Walk over to the shed.

Get a big fucking axe.

Walk back to where your computer is.

Pick up the axe and then hit the computer.

Pretend it is Bill Gates and hack the peice of shit for a couple hours.

Then put the axe down and getin your car.

Drive to a computer sahop and buy a new computer.
