My wife wants to know how painful it is to have your Navel pierced. (I know at least one of you here have theirs pierced.)

Why she wants to know I'm not going to ask. If she decides to do this I will support her as it's her body to do with as she sees fit. If she is just asking our of curiosity then that's fine as well.

Any answers?

At some point in my life I have had the following body parts pierced:
ears (still 2 in each, but also had the cartilage pierced on both also)
both nipples
belly button
eyebrow
tongue
clit hood

Out of all of those I think the belly button was the 2nd to least painful. The MAJOR thing with naval piercings, besides having someone do it right, is the potential for infection. After care is so important. The naval being a natural place for sweat to collect... even if it's unnoticable otherwise, it just naturally collects there, making it a natural breeding ground for infection. Most people don't have a problem if aftercare is done properly, but it HAS to be done. Also, you have to figure in the irritation factor from clothing rubbing an open wound. It all adds up.

Once it's healed, there's nothing more sexy than a pierced belly button. ;)

Thanks for the input.
My wife knows about the after care, (we are both in the medical field.) so there is no worry about keeping the "lint trap" clean. I believe the only thing she might be worried about is the pain. (She doesn't do well with pain.)

Again, thanks.

Not much worse than the ears, maybe even less. See, it wasn't so horrible that I actually don't remember. On the other hand ask me how much it hurt to have my nipples pierced... I could write a whole paragraph on the pain from those.

I think it was the anticipation that bothered me more. It was my first piercing other than my ears.

It's not painful when it's happening. It's sore for a few days after that. Then it's just irritating waiting for it to heal.

Also: It WILL leave a scar. Especially if she's not yet had children. :( I don't recommend it, but it was fun while it lasted.

It didn't hurt at all for me, and it's over so quickly that you don't even have time to dread it. *POP* and it's done.

The hardest part for a lot of people is keeping their hands off it while it heals. The dirtiest part of our bodies is our hands, and a friend of mine played with her ring constantly. As a result, she got a nasty infection.

Mine healed pretty quickly, but I washed it with antibacterial soap five or six times a day, and other than that, left it alone.

I also wore it all the way through my last pregnancy, and through delivery as well...doc said I was the first patient he'd had that had kept it in the whole time. :)

If I have my navel pierced, your wife won't feel a thing.

Where do I send the bill for cleaning my monitor? I just blasted Coors all over it. (Thanks for the laugh guy.)

I don't do pain, and I tend to get woozy at the sight of needles, yet I still have five peircings. *g* Cartilage in ear, earlobes, nose, lip and tongue, and i'm getting my ears done again as soon as I get paid.

It didn't hurt me at all and I cry when I stub my toe.

I would advise your wife to check into whoever is going to do the piercing. The person that did mine originally pierced it too deep. This caused problems for me and has created a scar that I would rather not have had. Based on this, it's the only body modification I've done that I regret.
