Ok- so what's wrong with using Lit to stroke your ego?

Don't we all (meaning the people who actually post on the board) use Lit in some way to stroke our ego?

Some people post pics and get compliments on them.
Others are witty, and get recognized for it.
Some people here are highly intelligent, and get praised for it.
Still others here are just plain old nice, and everyone loves them for it.
Then there are those who are total assholes, and seem to get the most feedback.


Most of us fit in at least one of these categories, and we keep on coming back to Lit because of that recognition. We seem to find enjoyment in the fact that we feel appreciated (or hated) and recognized here. I mean, no one likes to have a conversation with themselves (except for Yayati.).

Aren't we all attention whores in some way or another? Is there really anything wrong with it?

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. It doesn't become a problem unless the expectation of attention becomes a burden for others to bear. Other than that? Bring on the attention! The adoration, too!

No, there is nothing wrong with liking to be liked.

But really, I see it more like a village of sorts.

Within the village everybody at some time or another..enjoys a socially filled, entertaining time.

In real life I think that most of us don't necessarily need to be the center of attention all the time..it's really very tiring.

Even at a party, it's only a few people whom grab the spotlight intentionally.

Most of us are there to simply enjoy our friends and perhaps meet a few new ones along the way.

lit is a fun place to play around. i've enjoyed getting know everyone. do i like the attention? sure! i don't think i've tried any harder then anyone else to get it though.

I'm one of the few that doesn't fit into any of your categories. I try to think that I am witty sometimes but I don't know if thats true. I think I am intelligent but I can't translate my intelligence into my posts. I am nice but I use it foolishly. So I will create a category for myself... Someone who tries to fit in but can't.

Seriously, there are many times I have tried to fit in but it doesn't really work all that well. There are a few people here that I talk to and converse with, but most of the time the things I say fall on deaf ears.

Even with all of that said I am still a attention whore because I want to find that niche where I fit in. Maybe someday I will find that niche because I am stubborn and won't go away until ever nook and cranny is searched for that group of people here I fit in with.

I agree with you there. I've seen people try far more and get less results than you have. It seems like someone is just jealous of the attention you're getting with little effort, and is dealing with it in the most immature way possible.
