So I've had AIM for a few months now, and I also use MSN instant messenger.

One day last week, when I went to log in, it kept telling me I had the wrong password. I was sure I was using the correct one, but whatever. After a few failed attempts I clicked on the "forgot password" button, which took me to a new screen.

On the new screen it asked me for my username. Now remember, I've been using Aim for several months. Well, I type in my username, it then comes up with the following message..."We are currently unable to process your password request because the screen name submitted was not found. Please try again later."

WTF, over?

Anybody have any ideas on this?

We use AIM at work. A couple of times over the past few months it has gone down doing exactly what you have described. Wait an hour or two and try again.

I hope it works out for ya.

A month or so back, I went on a password changing spree, and changed my hotmail account password. A day or two later I'd forgotten what it was. (I had had the bad habit of having the same pass for EVERYTHING, and was trying to break it after a rather abrupt slap in the face lesson as to why it was wrong.)

It gives me those little jumbled letters, and tells me to type them in. Well, it turns out, something with Mac Safari and those code things doesn't process right. It kept telling me I was inputting the wrong letters.

Finally I've tried so many times it won't let me access the account even if I could remember the password. Eventually using IE for Mac, I get it to accept my jumbly letters.

It wants me to answer the secret question. Only trouble is, I MADE that account when I was 18 -- 7 years ago. How am I supposed to remember what food I said I've always liked when I was 18?

So, now I have a totally useless and inaccessible hotmail account. I have to actually snail mail a pen pal of mine, JUST to tell him that I cannot access the only email account he's got for me. Sad, eh?

Jade, I feel like I may have the same kind of a thing with AIM. I just tried Belle's suggestion, and it didn't work.
