This is an email I got today from one of my oldest readers. I pass it along with no comments.

I found this tidbit on a website. Maybe you've seen it. It makes you think...WHERE WILL YOU BUY YOUR GAS ????

I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies
import Middle Eastern oil :

Shell............................. 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil............... 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels

If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION!
Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

ARC0. ......................... 0 barrels
Citgo....................... 0 barrels
Sunoco............... 0 barrels
Conoco................... 0 barrels
Sinclair................. 0 barrels
BP/Phillips.............. 0 barrels
Hess..................... 0 barrels
All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each company
is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

If the Arabs did not sell as much oil, do you think they may drop their prices???
I don't know, but I would love to find out !

You decide where you will fill up next. Personally, I now buy my gas from ARCO.

Hmmm. I may have this wrong, but my former employer consulted for many of those clients and it's my understanding that:

Amoco and ARCO merged
BP merged with Amoco

So, it's really BP/Amoco/ARCO.

And if the Arabs didn't sell so much oil, prices would increase until we found other places to get our oil...Alaska or off the coast of California, perhaps.

Maybe we would wise up and find another source of energy?

*Blink*

Never mind. I'm just being silly.

Or, maybe Venezuela or Norway or Mexico or Nigeria.

Other sources of...? Bite your tongue! Texas would never allow that to happen.

To quote an old joke, "Do you know when we'll get solar power? When Exxon can figure out a way to bring it to us in a truck."

I have none of those near me

Check for oil company logos at your local convenience store.

In this area, Citgo furnishes gas for Seven Elevens and Sunoco or Sinclair furnish gas for Circle Ks

What ever happened to Hydrogen cars so there is no pollution?

It's all about the $$$$$$

Not true. In fact, I've already completed the rough draft scetches for my new thermo-hydro-solution generator, which is designed to turn small parts water and large parts simple breathable (or as close as we have in our current atmosphere) air into electricity.

I'll get to building it after I read all this porn...

The news coverage of the Hindenburg disaster has people scared of Hydrogen. (and they're not to happy about the association with Hydrogen Bombs either.)

Seriously, the problem is in building a distribution system for Hydrogen. It's not all that difficult to convert you present vehicle to run on Hydrogen, it's just difficult to find someplace to fill it up -- especially if you're away from home when you need fuel.

If that's the case, the world is doomed!
