Between 1979 and 1997, Dr. Richard Strauss, an Ohio State team doctor, sexually abused at least 177 athletes among 16 different sports. Multiple members of the Ohio State administration were notified about these abuses and did absolutely nothing.
For comparison, Larry Nassar, team doctor at Michigan State University, sexually abused at least 250 women and girls. Michigan State has paid out over $500 million to settle the sexual abuse claims as they too didn't bother to do any investigation or stop the assaults.
Strauss, who committed suicide in 2005, obviously won't face any charges, but Ohio State is in negotiations with the victims. Some of his victims described the assaults as hazing rituals.
By further comparison, Jerry Sandusky was charged with 48 counts of sexual assault and convicted of 45.

The law firm hired to conduct the investigation for the school interviewed hundreds of former students and university employees. The report concludes that university personnel at the time knew of complaints and concerns about Strauss’ conduct as early as 1979 but failed for years to investigate or take meaningful action.
As the allegations against him mounted, investigators said, Strauss pleaded with university administrators to keep his job. That included sending a letter in 1997 to then-university president Gordon Gee. A message seeking comment was left Friday for Gee, now president of West Virginia University.
