This morning I woke up sweating my ass off. What's up wth this?

It took me about ten minutes to diagnose the problem. The A/C wasn't working. (Not a good thing when the Air Temps. were already reaching 90 degrees by 0900.)

Okay, it's time to get my ass to work and try to find the problem. It took roughly an hour before I was able to locate the problem. A relay in the compressor had failed. I called around and found one not too far away for $15.00. Off I went.

I picked up the part, brought it home and replaced the bad part with a new one. The A/C kicked on right away. I was more than happy that it kicked on. It was reading 120 degrees inside the trailer and the wife and cats were out on the nice cool Patio where it was only reading 93 degrees.

Out of curiosity I called around to local people. The lowest bid I had for the repairs on the A/C was over $200.00.

Indeed. :)

(Welcome back, svenska. I'd been wondering where you were :rose: )

I feel your pain, Seacat. Here in Arid-Zone-a it feels like living on the surface of the sun. Birds spontaneously combust in the sky because of the heat.

Couldn't this be counted as a step towards sainthood? Because I'd put a figurine of anyone on my dashboard who can fix A/C.

Well she knows that this place is almost always comfortable and working, and I'm almost always filthy.

LOL

To me things like electrical or hydraulics or plumbing are easy. They are easily followed if you can follow a logical pattern.

I'm just one of those people who can discern the patterns and follow them. For me it's kind of fun, when I'm not sweating my ass off or up to my neck in mud.

You sound like me with car engines built pre-computer chip. They're easy. If it won't run, it's not getting 1) fuel, 2) air, or 3) fire. Very, very simple.

Computer chips fucked them up. ;)

Computer chips do that.
These days you can't even change the battery without being careful.

No kidding.

I absolutely loved working on cars like my 1968 ChevyII Nova or the old Dodge Darts.

My 1974 Chevy Impalla was a dream to work on even though it was a boat.

My dad was the one that got me started working on cars. He was a very large man, and had very large hands. I have very small hands, and could reach into places he couldn't.

Voila! Substitute mechanic. He'd sit down and read the Chilton's manual to me while I did the actual work. I got back into it when I had my Z28 that had an extremely customized engine that was very high-maintenance, and I was a single mother with limited income.
