Marketers are exploring a variety of formats, including sponsorships that give readers free books. Videos, graphics or text with an advertiser's message that appear when a person first starts a book or along the border of the digital pages are also in the works. Ads can be targeted based on the book's content and the demographic and profile information of the reader.

The advertising business has dabbled with books before without much success as authors howled and revenues proved skimpy. It's not clear that readers and authors would be more accepting now.

So what ads would they put in LW, Incest, Romance, Erotic Couplings?

I can tell you that I get some funny ones on my gmail page, depending on the perv convo I'm indulging in;
Viagra...
face cream...
gender reassignment "vacations" in HongKong and Thailand (never for FTMs though)
Rightwingnut money-raising campaigns
leftwingnut ditto
wholesale latex supplies
a local company that will make "branded" dildoes from their stock molds.
and horse tack, saddles, boots etc.

What about writing a series of stories that include the "product"?

So in "Little Annie's Fanny Gets a Surprise" you'd put a ad for anal cream, "Just like Annie Used!"

Authors could get advertisers to "Pay Them" to include their product, or services. Much more effective that an inserted Ad. :) If Smashwords, or equivalent can aggregate the ad's and assign the Author a product to be included, then they can keep the paperwork and collect their fee.

Stories I have written could include ads for Aqualube and Viagra and Rabbit vibrators. The publishers could also include links to Facebook or Adult Friend Finder or similar sites.

I have to say that this is about the best idea you have ever had. :D

Product placement?

I think I've used 'Velcro' in a couple of my stories.

They haven't paid me - yet.
