When will this bloody wind let up? Three days straight and we were supposed to get one. Now there's a dust storm on the horizon.
We've retied the tarp (which is beginning to rip) twice; stood up the potted trees three times (it's too bloody windy to plant them in the ground); picked up two bird nests that have blown out of trees and grouched lots.
It's Monday afternoon of a long weekend - we had lots of house building and such like planned.
How much have we achieved in this crap weather?

Sod all.

At least if it was raining, the farmers would be happy. Bloody weather.

Your plight reminds me of my first sail boat and my first voyage from Biscayne Bay, Dinner Key, to the Bahama's. Carefully timing my first ever venture into the open ocean after the 'hurricane' season, I was dismayed, upon arrival to my first port that a 'Norther' was forecast.

After three days of a battering wind that threatened to loosen two sturdy anchors to keep me off the beach, the wind shifted and I had to shift anchorage to the other side of the island to weather the backside of the front.

What did I achieve?

I survived.

And so will you. Chin up, mate!

As usual, the wind died down just on dark. The looming dust storm didn't quite eventuate (although everything is dusty, it's not really thick).
This morning is clear and almost still so far (but it's only 8am yet, plenty of time - wind usually picks up around 9.30), a beautiful morning.
Apart from the tarp, hubby risked life and limb yesterday to add extra nails to the roofing iron on the shack, and had to refix some of the wall panels.
Today he's back at work and the electricity commission is planning on cutting the power from 9am to 2pm to work on the lines.
And tomorrow big winds are forecast AGAIN, and warnings of "raised dust". Should be fun.

So today I go around and make sure everything is still tied down. Luckily the birds' nests that came down are no longer required - the little finchy type birds (give me time, I'll get better at naming them!) have already got their babies flying and somehow or other the remaining magpies weathered the gale. I heard them protesting their hunger this morning.

Glad you survived the wind...heard on the news today, that your fire season has begun and already some fires in New South Wales, if I recall and, a big flap from PETA, the animal peeps about Kangaroo leather being used in sports shoes...

Yep, we lost a couple of houses near Newcastle. Good start to the season.

Kangaroo leather for sports shoes? Why the hell not?

It's a better use for Kangaroo than eating it.

I've tried kangaroo steak, kangaroo burger and kangaroo I killed and butchered myself. I almost prefer witchety grubs.

My daughter maintains roo cooked right is damned fine. But I think she got one of the newfangled gourmet cuts.

Well it's just gone 9am and the wind is well up. I was about to type "not quite rattling the iron on the roof" but it heard me thinking and tried a bit harder - rattle bang!
The dust is starting to rise, it's gonna be a long and ugly day.
