Oh DearS Chapter 1: Oh DearS!

It had been around two weeks since the spaceship that had brought all of the amazingly beautiful aliens here had taken off, flying into space, and to destination unknown. The media still hadn't really been forgiven for their little scare with their stories about how the DearS had the ability to kill humans, and were also using this power. It seemed that even the most reputable of newspapers were being referred to as tabloids these days, thanks to the fact that they had dropped the ball like they had. That wasn't to say that all of the news was thought of as trash. There had been a reporter or two who had refused to jump onto the story about how the DearS were vile soul sucking monsters. They were the ones that most people watched for news these days.

Sonagi Takazashi was sitting behind the counter of the comic store that he worked at. A TV across the room from him that was sitting on top of a large shelving unit was showing an image of a young woman who was making a report on how DearS were being sent out into society again. She was also raising the question as to where all of these DearS were coming from now that they didn't have the ship to act as their shelter. Sonagi was paying little attention to most of this and was instead flipping through a graphic novel that he had purchased from the store that he worked at with the money he had gotten there.

He looked down at his watch for a moment before closing his book. Someone was supposed to be coming in to relieve him at any minute, because he definitely had classes that he was supposed to be at. He slipped the book into the pocket of his jacked and got up off of the chair, doing a little stretch before looking around the store. There wasn't another soul in the store right now. It was like that quite a bit these days. People were focused on DearS related material these days, and since the DearS were truth, and not fiction, that meant that anything that could be found about them would be more likely in a library than it would be in a comic store.

Sonagi looked up as the bell over the door rang and his replacement wandered into the store. He smiled softly before wandering over, shaking the guy's hand, and handing over the key to the store. The guy's name had been Nate or something. Sonagi had met him a few times before. He as a DearS fanatic and was always dragging his laptop around with him. Apparently he was working on some sort of DearS fan website. It seemed like everyone had some sort of DearS website these days.

Sonagi had never seen the pull of something like that. Not even the website portion of it. The problem was that he had never seen a DearS in real life. He had heard a lot about them, and seen them on TV and in pictures, but he had seen images of what was supposed to be the baby of Elvis as well. Just because there was a picture of something in this day and age didn't mean that it actually existed, or was actually as beautiful as it looked in the image. What about those fast food hamburgers? Those never looked as appealing as they did in the advertisement.

If you believed what you heard and saw, then the DearS would be a race of people who were all quite beautiful, and who all mastered almost any subject that they needed to learn seemingly overnight. There were also some stories about them manipulating gravity and being extra athletic, as well as a story or two about them enjoying melon flavored things quite a lot. Sonagi had laughed when that rumor had come up, since most of his college had immediately stocked up on the strange melon bread item that came in a package and looked quite a bit like some sort of moon pie. He had never attempted to eat this thing, but he heard that it actually wasn't as bad as he had expected it to be.

Sonagi continued to walk down the street now, his book bag over his shoulder. He had a funny feeling that today was going to be quite different than a normal day. He wasn't entirely sure how it was going to be different, or what was going to happen, but he did know that if his thinking was right that this was going to be a very different day. He stopped for a moment and shook his head to clear his mind. That was a stupid way of thinking. He was going to college. Every day was weird there.

Bess

Bess had been given a map but she had not done very well on her map reading class.

Now she is waling around, not sure if she were she is or where is is going.

She continues to walk slowly, her head down reading and rereading her map and directions. trying to see is she missed something.

She is nervous she was just told to go she was not told if this was her 'family or master' or if this was just a drill to get her into contact with humans.
