Hardly a surprise. Old Republican men are usually wealthy and, if conservative, and in control--they dictate their wants to their wives and the woman obey. I'd be happy too if I was wealthy and able to go for a younger, obedient husband whenever I got bored with the old one.

Your attitudes toward what's occuring around you are formed early in life...then merely refined as time goes on. If you're sanguine...you'll react in a like manner...hyper, the same. Granted, material wealth plays a part in all this, but there are folks who are happy with much less, and those who have their every need gratified are often miserable. Political affiliations and class envy have nothing whatsoever to do with happiness...it comes from within.

I should say, perhaps, perspicaciously, "I resemble them remarks!", and although I have never been a Republican nor voted for one, I am quite content to be defined as a 'Classical Liberal', after the style of those who created this nation.
The reason lefties are never happy can be analogized by the tidy housewife with a cleaning fetish; she is never satisfied and by definition can never be. The same the left wing reactionaries, they create nothing and criticize everything, lead a sad life and gracelessly exit having never discovered the joy of life.
