We're getting married in two months!

After all the stress and worrying, we've come to the "fuck it" conclusion and are having a handfasting in the back garden of our new house at the end of october. The best part is, my mother knows a registered celebrant who does handfastings!

So... paperwork, and surprising the relatives. Other than the uncle who has to come up from Devon and both sets of parents, we're not telling the relatives or friends. They just think its a housewarming.

I'm so excited!

We're getting the rings as soon as I get paid... eeek!

Good luck JL and enjoy - I got married a year ago and loved every minute of it!

So happy for you, JL.

My sister did the same thing a couple of years ago. She and her long term SO invited the family over for a barbecue. And wedding. They didn't tell us about the wedding part.

It was a very pleasant surprise and a lot of fun.

Congrats!

As a side note, if you live in a relatively populated area, most Unitarian Universalist ministers are at least vaguely familiar with the concept of handfasting, or can make good recommendations through CUUPS.

So if your mom's recommendation doesn't end up being quite right, you have some alternatives.

Bright blessings on your partnership!

Its at this point we realise that we have no idea what paperwork we need to do... So, time to research!

Well done J-L! I think my daughter wishes they were doing something simpler. We had wedding cake rehersal at the weekend, that went pretty well and at least I now know exactly what they want... still not sure how I'm going to make it  Tonight we had wedding dress rehersal, she looked gorgeous but then I'm her dad so I can say that.

When in October? Ours is 20th.

Toward the end - we're seeing the registrar this weekend to see what's free...

More when I'm not collapsing into bed :)

<smiles> That's one hell of a bit of Gordian knot topiary! Sounds like it'll be fun though.

[English]Interesting way of solving your problem in one fell swoop.[/English]

Still haven't seen your take on the face morphing thingame yet. Would be intrigued to see how you turn out.
