Oh, and does a man really have a clitoris?

The same tissue on a fetus that makes a clitoris in a female becomes a penis in a male.

So they have one, it's not generally cut off.

Female so-called circumcision as practised by some sub-saharan tribes, is the excision of the outer and inner labia so that the woman CANNOT enjoy sex.

It is a brutal mutilation and is rightly condemned.

Male circumcision can sometimes be justified on health grounds and does not interfere with sexual enjoyment.

The two are not comparable in extent or effect.

Minimising what is done to women to control them does them no service.

If so, why isn't it circumcised?

I read a recent letter to the editor by a college student (female, even), who was lamenting the circumcision of women (the Tribune paper had also previously called what is known for a fact as a clotoridectomy, circumcision) as barbaric, or something similar.

If that is so, the so-called female circumcision, when males are circumcised, why isn't their clitoris removed?
Let me ask you a question:

Why are you posting these absurd diatribes here? If you were angry at the letter to the editor...why not send a letter to the editor back in response? Why post your dismay at this inaccuracy here?

Or are you completely unaware that you're preaching to the converted when you post such things on this forum? This is an erotica forum, and the author's hang-out--that means we write about sexual organs, and that means we usually know a lot about them. Which means...we don't make that mistake. So why post this here? Who are you trying to argue against or convert?

You need to not only learn to pick your battles, but also your battle fields. You might just as well be shouting: "Sex is good!" Well, yeah, we write about sex here and tend to think it's good. Go shout this controversal affirmation somewhere where it's going to get you an argument and allow you to change some minds.

They don't have one? Really!? Hmm. Let's see, a male has a few tubules in his penis (cock if you prefer), three, I think. One of those rascals has a "crown", a "corpus," and curiously, "legs" that look remarkably like those of the female clitoris, if quite a bit shorter. Yep, a matched pair if ever there was one.

Why is it that if a clitoridectomy is called female circumcision, that when a male is circumcised, his "clitoris" isn't removed. Would this make a difference in how "fermale circumcision" is seen? Ouchy!

Can you imagine the outrage if a man was "circumcised," and the tubule was removed instead of the foreskin? Wow!

Uh-uh! So why do we not see that if there was female circumcision (there is, really, but it's called "elective surgery" designed to make a girl with "unattractive inner labia look "normal"), then what men go through should, being "circumcision," should see the removal of "that" tubule?

That's if men have a clitoris. Do they?

For the simple reason that when a woman is circumsiced - her pleasure is taken away. When a man is? He still gets off. Its an inappropriate word for for women - for women the appropriate word is torture. :)

The process is torture. The result is mutilation.

Looks like someone is desperately trying to revive the feminist movement.
Or just discovering these things for the first time, which happens to us all- at least once... :)

Anyway, the using the word "Circumcision" when someone means "Clitoridectomy" makes a liar out of them, pure and simple.

I don't know, lets ask Mr. Bobbit <grin

or did he get his sewn back on

Female genital mutilation is occasionally performed in London.

If discovered it is treated as a crime committed on the woman.

It is nothing to do with religious practices. It is uneducated and superstitious men (and sometimes older women) trying to repress sexuality in young women so that they can be controlled as virtual slaves.

Sort of along this topic, I have a friend- a badass, crazy, femlibsep, BDSM tattoo dyke- in a wheel chair these days... At one point, she was trying testosterone treatments for what ailed her. Her doctors warned her that she would experience unwanted genital malformation- her clitoris would enlarge.
She said "And what's the unwanted malformation?" :catroar:

Of course she pulled down her panties to show me- her clit was about the size of your thumb- a nice big thumb, at that. It was covered with a soft, textured skin, more like a testicle sack than a penis' head, with that "seamline" down the center.
I asked her if she felt as if she had as much sensitivity as before, and got one of those looks, you know... like "Duh!"

Obviously, further investigation was neccesary. ...that was fun...

my pleasure, because you asked, Charley

It also seemed to me- but these things are subjective- that she produced a lot more fluid than she previously had...

Testosterone, the secret ingredient!

Sadly, it did not slow the onset of her disease. :(

I believe it is usually performed on a girl about the time she reaches puberty in hopes of making her more marriageable. Personally, I can't imagine anybody wanting a wife or girlfriend who couldn't enjoy sex, but that might be just my Western craziness speaking.

I think there's a fear among some men that if a woman has a big clit, it makes her look masculine - it's homophobia at its extreme!

Seriously, wouldn't a bigger clit make it easier for men to find? Hmm... maybe we should all get some testosterone shots?:D

Yes... "preaching to the choir" isn't necessarily a bad thing... esp in a forum where most of us are pretty understanding about this stuff... no need to berate someone for putting out information, even if it's redundant to some... it might not be to others...

beautifully put, Stella
