Hey, about a couple weeks ago, I graduated college and just a few other days i got a awesome job. But the cool thing is, I get my own office and barely any body comes into my office to talk to me. So, occasionally, on my new company computer I browse some sites but eventually, I stumble apoun some sex stories that really get me horny.

You might want to be very careful where you're surfing on the company computer. I'm sure there are tracking programs that the IT department uses - it is standard practice these days. You won't be the first to get a knock on your office door and be confronted with your surfing history.

See, I'm a programmer for the company and well, I figured the exact same thing that they might betracing what I view,. But that's all takin care of. I've takin the program off it within the first day so everything is fine. But yeah, hopefully I can find someone that can do this for me. Though it wouldn be everyday. Let's say for the sake of discussion you did find a tracking program, what company today relies on just one? It could be bait to let you feel comfortable, when they've really got a better, deeper program running that you didn't find. But let's say you found everything... do you think the company will just let it slide that you're preventing them from makeing sure you're using company resources for company purposes? If they don't have anything hidden yet, they will soon. On top of that you may get reprimanded officially or other wise for tampering.

But let's say you found everything... do you think the company will just let it slide that you're preventing them from makeing sure you're using company resources for company purposes? My thoughts exactly. What if by chance they decided to look into what you were doing? I'd be very suspicious of a programmer who didn't have the tracking software installed...not a big leap to think you got rid of it and were up to no good. Limit the porn surfing and cybering to your off-time...it's probably not worth losing your great new job over, is it?

No company (except mom and pop shops) allows client PC's direct access to the internet. They all funnel internet traffic through a proxy/gateway server of some sorts. This server accepts your request for an internet page, retrieves it, then passes it back to you(think cable/dsl router on steroids). This is where the heavy duty internet monitoring occurs. For one, the information's centralized. For two, it's in their control, not yours.
