Short dark hair, green eyes

Sam decided to start over after his long romance with his high school sweetheart ended by her telling him she had found someone else. Starting over meant a new job in a new town where nobody knew him. All his friends had kept asking him how he was doing and he couldn’t take it anymore, so he made the move. Getting away from it all, starting over. He wanted to be alone in his self pity and wasn’t looking for any kind of a date, or relationship for a while.

Today was his first day as an account manager at a large marketing firm. He was sitting in the big training room, waiting patiently for the orientation seminars to begin. He was casually making notes of the things he needed to do with the small condo he’d bought.

As he wrote, he sensed someone walk up to him “Is this seat taken?” he heard her say softly and looked up. He looked into the face of a beautiful woman. He simply motioned for her to have a seat and finished writing his note before truly acknowledging her.

He laid his pen down and looked at her “Sorry, just writing some notes to myself. My name’s Sam.” He said, extending his hand to her.

Elyse

110 pounds
Petite but in shape
Medium length blonde hair, blue eyes

Kristin confidently walked down the long corridor to the training room. Her heels clicked loudly on the linoleum flooring. She flung the door open, and walked inside. She saw a man sitting at the table... Looked young, handsome... Maybe a little nervous, maybe a little bored... He was jotting something down on a notepad. She approached him and cleared her throat. "Is this seat taken?" She asked sweetly. He motioned to her to take the seat, and she did. She was a bit offended, but figured he was engrossed in his note-taking.

She sat down, and took out a leather bound notepad. On the cover, embossed in gold, was her college's seal. She had just graduated, and this was her first non-intern job. She was into PR, and was confident that she'd rise through the ranks quickly.

The young man sitting next to her introduced himself. "Pleased to meet you, Sam. I'm Elyse." She shook his hand firmly, and smiled. "So Sam, what position are you here for?"

Sam smiled as she introduced herself. "Pleasure to meet you Elyse." he said as they shook hands. He noticed the monogram on her notepad and figured she must be just out of college. Most people after a few years don't care about showing where they went to school.

"So Sam, what position are you here for?" she asked him. "I'm a new account executive. I moved here to make a new start. But I don't wnt tto bore you with the details of all that. How about you Elyse, what job are you here for?" he asked her, making casual conversation.

"I'm in PR... Nothing too exciting." She smiled. "A lot of talking, schmoozing, kissing ass..." She laughed. "So, you're here for a new start, eh?" She leaned back in her chair. A new start? She thought to herself. What could he possibly be starting over from?

"Yeah, it's a long story. Maybe I'll tell you sometime over a cup of coffee or something." Sam said as he looked at Elyse, a slight smile on his face. "So, where you from?" he asked, thinking since she had just graduated from college, she might be new in town too.

"Well, I was born in Pittsburg... My dad was in the army, so I traveled and moved a lot as a child. I went to college in Atlanta, and now I'm here." She smiled. She pondered his offer of a discussion over coffee... "A long story over coffee, huh? Are we talkin' 3-4 cups of coffee, or the whole pot?" she giggled at her own joke.

"Probably more like a couple of pots." Sam said with a chuckle, adding to the joke. "So you're an army brat, huh?" he said teasing Elyse. "I moved to Orlando from Minneapolis. I was born and raised in Minnesota, and like I said I needed to make a new start. I figured, what better place than somewhere warm." he said to her with a little shrug just before the orientation seminar began.

"So, would you mind if we had lunch together, my fellow newby?" he asked as they broke for lunch. They went to the cafateria of the building, got their food and found a table. He sat across from her and looked at her, realizing for the first time how beautiful her blue eyes were. "So, just out of college huh? I picture you being the typical sorority girl." he said. He was basing that off the fact that most of the blue-eyed blonde girls at his college were sorority girls, or at least wanted to be.

"Yep. Brat to the max." She giggled. "It was fun... Nice seeing so many new places. Germany, the Phillippines, Hawaii, Canada..." She paused. "Florida is a nice change. One of the few places dad wasn't stationed."

The first half of the orientation ended, and they headed down to the cafeteria for lunch.
"So, just out of college huh? I picture you being the typical sorority girl."
Elyse laughed. "Yea, I was. Delta-Delta-Delta." She said, making the sorority's triangle symbol with her hands. She laughed at how ridiculous she must look. "Tri-Delt was fun... I did all kinds of things in college. Clubs, Student Government, volunteer work, committees for just about everything... I did it all. Kept me busy."

Sam laughed with Elyse at her symbol. "I did the dorm thing myself. Couldn't get myself to go through the initiation crap of a frat." he said with a chuckle. "Plus my girlfreind at the time didn't want me doing all that stupid stuff, and was in love so whatever it took to make her happy..." he said with a shrug.

They talked a little more and Sam looked at his watch. "I suppose, we better get back to our meetings" he said and took both their plates to the cart. They walked back into the meetings together and sat back in their seats.

"I lived in a dorm my freshman year," she replied. "But I absolutely hated it. The Tri-Delt house was soooo much niceer... And cleaner!" She giggled. "I dated a frat boy for about a year... But that got old pretty quick. He partied too much. I couldn't keep up."

They ended their small talk, and returned to the meeting.

They sat through the remainder of the orientation and were dismissed to their respective departments. As they stood to leave the room Sam looked at Elyse "Would you like to go for a cup of coffee after work?" he asked tenatively.

"I'll meet you at the coffee shop across the street." he said with a smile as they left the room.

Sam wasn't looking for anything more than friendship at the moment, but he thought they'd hit it off fairly well and decided she'd make a pretty good friend. At least he wanted to get to know her a little better and if things did progress beyond friendship, what the hell. She was attractive, actually quite attractive and could definitely be someone he'd want to spend time with.

The last couple of hours of the day flew by as he learned the little ins and outs of how the company did things, met the people he'd be working with, and studied up on the accounts he'd be dealing with.

As he walked from his office towards the door, he saw Elyse walking a little ahead of him and walked a little quicker to catch up with her. "Hey you..." he said as he stepped beside her "... you up for that coffee, or would you rather go get a drink somewhere?"

Elyse agreed to coffee after work, and proceeded with her department manager to find her new office. As she unpacked her things, she wondered about Sam's intentions. Friendship, or something more? She decided friendshio was the best route... Office romance was hard to do. But with the separation of departments, it could work.....

She proceeded on to learning the computer system... The program was somewhat confusing, and the team she was with was of little help. She scanned through what seemed like dozens of spreadsheets and contact lists, trying to familiarize herself with the company.

Elyse's watched read 5:00, and she quickly gathered her things to leave. It had been a stressful first day, and she wanted the hell out of this office. She sauntered down the hallway towards the elevator. She heard a voice from behind her... 'Hey you..." She turned to face Sam, and she was reminded of their post-work plans. "Hey!" She greeted him. "Let's go for a drink," she replied with a laugh. "I need something stronger than coffee after a day like today."

"Sounds good to me" he said as they walked out of the building. He glanced around, not sure of whee to go. He saw a bar up the road. "That looks like as good of a place as any, don't you think?" he said pointing to the bar. "Or did you have something else in mind. I'm new around here so I don't know what options we have."

They walked towards the parking lot. "Do we want to take seperate cars? or should we ride together?" he said casually.

"Looks good to me," Elyse replied, glancing down the street. "A bar is a bar, no matter where it is." She laughed and started towards the lot. "We can take the same car... Doesn't matter to me. I'll drive." She fumbled through her purse for her car keys. She hit the disarm button on her keypad, and the headlights of a red Mustang flashed a few rows over. "There she is!" She said with a giggle.

"Sam, meet Shelby," she said, opening the door. Her car was her baby... A Shelby Cobra GT500 SVT... Not only eye candy, but fast enough to win pink slips. She started the engine, and revved it a little. She giggled. "My graduation present to myself... Now, which way was that bar?"

"Nice car." Sam said admiring it as he climbed in the passenger seat. He could feel the power as she revved the engine. "Beats the hell out of mine, that's for sure."

They drove to the bar and found a quiet table in a corner. "Let me get the first round." he said casually as the waitress came to their table. He ordered his usual Rum-Coke and waited for Elyse to order hers.

"Thanks... I love this car. It's my pride and joy." She parked carefully, and proceeded into the bar.

Once seated, Sam ordered his drink, and she pondered hers... "I'll start with a Cosmopolitain martini, please." She smiled at the waitress. "The next round's on me, Sam." She winked at him, and glanced around the bar. "Nice place... Good choice."

Yeah, it's not bad. Lucky, I suppose. Everyone has to be lucky at something." he said with a smile. He looked over at Elyse and realized again, how pretty she was.

"So, tell me more about yourself. How'd you end up in Orlando?" he said, wanting to know more about her.
